Heritage Gouri Haveli

The manager, Vikram, deserves special praise for his helpfulness and kindness throughout; we are very grateful to him. The other staff members were also attentive and efficient. We enjoyed the location very much.

The bathroom facilities were very basic. Some simple additions such as hooks for clothes and a shelf for bathroom items would be a good idea. Storage for clothes in the bedroom would also be helpful. Future guests, take note: taxis may not want to negotiate the narrow and congested lanes leading to the hotel; we had to transfer to an auto for the last few hundred yards.

Location, staff, ambience, convenience … it’s a nice quirky place and we definitely recommend it. Everyone went out of their way to be helpful, friendly and polite. Good breakfast too. Stunning view.

Since it is an haveli it can be a little noisy at night because you have only wooden shutters and no windows.

Location. Reaching the property in old city is a challenge

The location is excellent. Close to the clock tower, step well and market with panoramic view of the fort from the rooftop restaurant. The food was the best we've had so far after 4 weeks in India so we ended up having all our meals there. The staff were always eager to help in any way and the restaurant service was very efficient.

Nothing

Such a beautiful hotel. My room was gorgeous, with windows that opened (and no mosquitoes!), a view looking over the Old City and the fort. The bed was comfortable and the old carved wooden furniture made it feel so cozy. I loved sitting in the window seat having my coffee as the sun came up! I appreciated that the breakfast was not spicy and I enjoyed a few yummy dinners in the rooftop restaurant, where they serve meat and alcohol - which was a nice surprise! The hospitality was top-notch. Vikram and his staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome.

- I wish there were lamps in the room with a warmer quality of light since I really dislike neons, they seemed contradictory to the rest of the atmosphere. - There was no water in the shower on my 2nd day. - There should be barriers where they are doing construction because you can easily just walk out to the edge, which is frightening if there were children! - The Diwali festival meant 2 sleepless nights because of non-stop fireworks all around the building! I understand that it was beyond the hotel’s control, but it definitely tainted my stay. I hope to return someday when it is calmer, I’m sure it would be a very relaxing place to stay.

The roof top and location are what makes this Haveli. It’s situated close to the clock tower market. Stunning spot on the top for an evening drink overlooking the fort. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and the building itself is very cool.

You get what you pay for in terms of room. There weren’t many home comforts. Both rooms we stayed in had zero furnishings (nothing on the walls or rugs, cushions etc) making feel slightly sparse and unwelcoming. The bathroom looked like it was unfinished and was not very clean.

Staff were very accommodating! We moved rooms when we had some noise sensitivity- it is right on a busy little road. But new room was perfect. It has a romantic and beautiful charm to it. They have done beautiful renovations. Ji working in the kitchen who got us breakfast every day was wonderful! Views to the fort spectacular! Will definitely be back!

No hot water in our room. But standard India. One of the guys kept trying to get us to go to his spice shop which started to get annoying.
