Higher Barton Guest room

Loved the area! I enjoyed walking around and seeing so many historical buildings. People in the town were friendly and lots of places to walk to. Deborah went above and beyond! A perfect stay! I will be coming back for sure.

Be willing to enjoy the beauty of staying in an historical place and area and you will love it!

Nice and clean, very friendly host

Room felt a little cold and slightly damp, window didn’t close and that made the bedding feel damp, was meant to be a private bathroom but someone was taking a shower when I returned from work one evening, personally didn’t mind but not a private bathroom if sharing with household members, appreciate it’s an old solid building but feel it would benefit from some heating before guests turn up, think the winter months might be slightly more concerning, over all well priced and a pleasant stay

Room was incredibly comfortable and well kept, owner super friendly and accommodating, only stayed for the night as an travelling on the next day. Everything felt clean and well kept! Thanks for a lovely stay

Heavy chain on the gates makes it noisy,poor neighbours when arriving later in evening and leaving early doors as I did.the chain wasn’t locked so don’t know why it’s there.the room has the smoke alarm wedged behind a wire running down the wall.not sure they should be just above ground level as smoke rises ? .bathroom is shared with family and there are warning signs not to use family’s towels in the bathroom and to leave your toiletries in the room.the bedroom door will not shut close.wiring is dubious but I not an electrician.just looks too many utensils running on one plug.one fridge .one freezer, 4 slice toaster,1 kettle , 1 mini oven. Why leave a see through negligee hanging up on the back of the family’s bathroom door.clear out your personal possessions when the room is rented out.not what to expect with booking.com.I didn’t want to stay the second night booked and was non refundable.I know why.

The dog constantly barking from 10pm till 1am. Not having been invited to watch TV,, nothing in room to do. Lots of long legged spiders in room and bathroom. Messaged to say net curtain thing fell down in the night scaring me and nothing. Towel was damp, bin had previous rubbish in. Didn't speak as I left to ask how it was and no apology about the dog

Unbelievable value for money, I will be back here whenever I stay in Somerset. Everything taken care of that you might need, plenty you wouldn't even find in £200+ hotel rooms. On my low budget I felt spoiled and looked after. Can't wait to return.

It was quiet. On-street car parking was not a problem. Heating in the bathroom. Plenty of towels. I am not sure breakfast was supposed to be provided but there were packets of cereals in the room (some out of date, one open). Basic cooking facilities were provided but washing up has to be done in a plastic bowl (provided) which has to be filled in the bathroom across the hallway and emptied in the bathroom wash basin. It was OK for one night.

I only saw the hostess very briefly on arrival. The window in my room (on the ground floor) would not shut which made me feel unsecure at night, the bath was dirty (covered in dust and bits of dirt) and the power was off for the electric shower so I could only have a wash at the wash basin. The description mentioned a shared lounge which, having my first holiday on my own, would have been welcome. I was not invited to the private area/shown any shared lounge. As there was no TV in the room (which would not normally bother me) I felt very lonely. It would have been nice, at least, to have a little chat with the hostess but when I rang the door bell to ask about the window, the shower and to say goodbye, there was no reply. The floors were not very clean. I know it was an old house and the price was fairly low but I would expect the window to shut, a hot shower and the place to be clean.
