The Cattleya Guest House Sigiriya

This charming guesthouse is on the main road in Sigiriya but set back, so no road noise. It is backed onto a lovely garden with so much nature! Breakfast was amazing, as was the dinner we ate there. Can't recommend enough. Thank you, Asoka!

Wir haben uns von Anfang an willkommen und herzlich aufgenommen gefühlt. Asoka hatte uns im Rahmen eines begrüßungsdrinks gleich über mögliche Aktivitäten informiert und uns einen Ausflug organisiert. Der Garten war toll und wir konnten so viel spannende Tiere beobachten :) Das Frühstück das wir bekommen haben war einfach überragend und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Wir kommen gerne wieder 😊

Staying at Asoka's charming guesthouse was one of the highlights of our Sri Lanka trip. Perfectly situated just a short distance from the iconic Sigiriya Rock, the location couldn't be more convenient for exploring the area. What truly set this stay apart was our host, Asoka. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel completely at ease, sharing thoughtful tips tailored to our itinerary, along with fascinating stories and historical insights about Sigiriya that genuinely enriched our visit. His warmth and genuine care for his guests is something you simply can't put a price on. And the breakfast? Absolutely outstanding. Asoka's home-cooked meals were full of flavour and prepared with such love and attention, easily a 10/10. It was the kind of breakfast that sets you up for the day with a smile.

We have zero complaints with our stay

This guest house is in a great location just a few minutes walk from local restaurants and a short tuk tuk ride to the rock. You can also walk back from the rock when you get down - it takes about 20 minutes. The host family were exceptional. They arranged for a car to take us around Polonuwara and drive us to our next stop in Ella. The breakfast was fantastic with juice, fruit, eggs, roti and Dahl. The room itself was very clean and the shower great, the bed also bed very comfortable. Honestly couldn’t recommend this more.

Nothing! Only a short warning for people who don’t already know that there are monkeys all over Sri Lanka and you might see some during your breakfast in which case we would recommend a pair of flip flops to scare them away.

Extremely comfortable and clean room in a beautiful garden setting. Delicious meals prepared by the host’s family. Ayoka gave us lots of expert advice about timing our trips to local attractions, which proved invaluable. Thank you!

My husband and 2 daughters loved everything about this property, which more than lived up to the well deserved excellent reviews. There are two cottages side by side which suited us perfectly. The rooms and bathrooms are large with a shady seating area in front of each where a fantastic home cooked Sri Lankan breakfast is served while enjoying the wildlife in Asoka’s beautifully cared for garden. Asoka is a lovely man who cares for his home and garden immaculately and we very much enjoyed learning about all the animals and birds who drop by .. the monkeys can be very mischievous! If you’re lucky, you’ll see an elephant wandering past the end of his garden, but sadly, we didn’t! Do not miss the opportunity to stay at Asoka’s place if you can!
