Our stay at Nilowin in Haputhale was one of the highlights of our three week trip to Sri Lanka! The cooking class arranged by the host was incredible. The meal we cooked was the best rice and curry of our entire trip and we had so much fun learning more about Sri Lanka through the family and Namesh! The room is clean, spacious, and has a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. We easily accessed the Pekoe hiking trail from the adjacent tea fields. Would stay again and again!

Located in a peaceful, quiet area surrounded by nature, this place is pure serenity. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with a balcony offering spectacular views of the tea plantations, valleys, and mountains — we truly couldn’t have asked for more. What will stay in our minds and hearts, though, is Saman and his family, who made us feel so genuinely welcome. We can’t thank them enough for making our stay special. They really go the extra mile in everything they do, always with such sincerity that you feel truly cared for. We’d also like to express our gratitude to Ramesh, who tirelessly ensured that we were comfortable throughout our stay. An inspiring experience — and even weeks later, we’re still dreaming about the tastiest home-cooked rice and curry of our entire trip!

Staying at Nilowin Glenanore Guesthouse has been a truly wonderful experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at home — surrounded by warmth, friendliness, and breathtaking views from my room. Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. I’m a big fan of cooking classes, and this one was by far the most unique I’ve ever attended. Samon and his family have created a purpose-built kitchen where we learned every step of traditional Sri Lankan cooking — from selecting fresh ingredients and making coconut milk to mixing aromatic spices. The meal we cooked together, on a wood-burning stove, was absolutely delicious and made even more special by sharing it with the family. It was the perfect Sri Lankan experience — authentic, welcoming, and full of heart.

What an amazing stay. The view from the room is sensational, I could have sat & watched the clouds on the mountains all day. The service from Saman & his team is excellent. Staff are relaxed & fun while being very professional. A special mention for Ramesh (spelling?). An incredible young man who made our stay so perfect. We also highly recommend the cooking class. Fun night with delicious food. Definitely stay here if you come to Haputale.

I had such an amazing stay at Nilowin. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the view was just stunning! The staff was so friendly and helpful with organising my activities for the day and a driver. The food was some of the best I have had on my trip. Just an overall great experience and I highly recommend staying here.
