Kanazawa Guesthouse Pongyi

Absolutely everything!!!!!!! Nina is just a beautiful person and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is fabulous. Everything from the traditional Japanese guest house experience to the location to the nightly activities run by Nina were exceptional.

I would change nothing.

We had a lovely stay at Guest House Pongyi. It’s a lovely small guest house and we felt very welcome. Nina took great care of us, she was professional and friendly, the house was very clean and Nina gave great tips on restaurants and areas to go to. Also, in the evening, she organised lovely activities for the guests such as teaching us origami. Our stay in Kanazawa wouldn’t have been as good if we wouldn’t have stayed in this guest house. We would definitely recommend it!

Nina was so so sweet! We got a full tour of the house and got introduced to every other guest. We then had a tea time, with some sweets offered by Nina! The ambiance was warm, the place is lovely and very well situated and it overall was a great experience. I would 100% come back anytime!

A bit small, taller people might hit their heads sometimes

The location is about 9 minuteswalking from the Kanazawa station. There is enough restaurants in the neighbourhood. This place is beautiful. It use to be a kimono shop that got converted into a guesthouse. I chose this place, becausr I wantsd to experience a Japanese house. This superceeded my expectations. The hostess Nina-san is very welcoming. Her speaking English, made the experience even better, as we could converse. In the evening she learned us how to make origami. Was very cool experience and she explained it very well. My clumpsey hands were more in the way. The bathroom and toilet were nice and clean and modern with all the expected facilities. I would defenitly come back to this gueathouse and I recommend it if you wish to feel A japanese house.

Excellent stay. Hosts were exceptionally kind and compassionate and friendly and approachable. The house was impeccably clean.

Pongyi is so cozy! We stayed in the upstairs private room - it was all impeccably clean and well kept. Our futons were luxuriously comfortable, and we slept well. Our host Nina-san was so kind and thoughtful. She gave us recommendations for activities and restaurants and was a terrific resource during our stay. We also enjoyed the small evening activities that they organized for the guests.

Highly recommend Pongyi! Masaki and Nina gave me a truly wonderful stay. The takoyaki party not only let me experience Japanese culture, but also gave me the chance to connect with travelers from different countries — it was so much fun! When I checked out, Nina even used a flint stone to wish me peace and safety. Thank you Masaki and Nina for such a heartwarming experience. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Nina and Masaki are great hosts! Very interested and easy going. Very cozy house and large common area to relax or hang out. Also fun activities in the evening.

Probably the best hotel I stayed at during my trip in Japan. Not only is the place adorable and comfortable but the location is great only 30min by walk from the main attractions in Kanazawa. The best part is of course the unbounded generosity of Nina and Masaki. Make sure to attend the activities they offer in the evenings, they will make your stay in Kanazawa unforgettable.
