Kanazawa Guesthouse Pongyi

Amazing place, the staff is so sweet. They organised an evening of Japanese Calligraphy where they taught us how to write our names in Kanji. They gave tips on where to go and when. The location is great, walking distance from the city center and the station.

Estuve alojada dos dias y si pudiera me quedaría aquí alojada toda mi estancia en Japón. Ha sido la mejor Guest House en la que he estado, los propietarios son muy atentos y dedicados, les deseo lo mejor. Cada noche compartían la cultura japonesa con nosotros e hicimos un taller de cocinar Takoyaki. Fue una experiencia increíble que sin duda repetiría.

Nina is the most wonderful host! We had the private room as on our honeymoon. When we saw the reviews of Pongyi we knew we had to stay for the experience and the organised activities. While we stayed we did an origami and a cooking class. Both were so much fun! We loved chatting with Nina. She also offers your name in kanji for a small fee which is a special keepsake. We learnt so much during our stay we are so glad to have picked Pongyi for Kanazawa. It was easy to walk to the places we wanted to visit. Our room was comfortable and had plenty of space. Sharing the toilet and shower facilities was no problem, we didn't have to wait.

Loved everything!

Our stay at Pongyi was the highlight of our trip, by a mile. We were given a warm welcome and given a thorough breakdown of things to do in Kanazawa, plus the tip about the scenic walking route down to the samurai district was something we wouldn't have found on our own (following the stream). Niina-san organises activities at night to engage the guests, even a takoyaki night where Masaki-san joined and they both taught everyone how to make takoyaki. The beds were very comfortable, each bunk offers a lot of privacy despite being a shared dorm. All the facilities are well decorated and kept very clean and tidy. The location is excellent as well, only 10 minutes walk from the station and 20 minutes from the castle.
