Peacock Villa Resort

The family was incredibly kind, and the room was spacious and spotless. We booked one night and ended up staying two. We saw elephants right from the balcony, and we also booked the 7-hour safari with them, we saw so many animals: elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, peacocks, monkeys, eagles, foxes, deer, and even a snake! We had the best time here and really didn't want to leave, hehe. I also recommend eating here - dinner was absolutely amazing and there was A LOT of food. Thanks again for having us in your home!

We stayed at The Peacock Villa Resort and absolutely loved our time here! It’s a simple, clean, and comfortable room with air conditioning and hot water perfect for what we needed. It’s owned by a lovely local family who made our stay so memorable. The real highlight was the hospitality. Nakala and his wife were incredible. She cooked us a huge, delicious homemade dinner for just $10 AUD (one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka!) They also organised a full-day private safari for us that went for around 7 hours and even included breakfast. We saw elephants, crocodiles, buffalo, monkeys, and so much more. It was such a magical experience especially because we could even spot wild elephants from the balcony of our accommodation! Nakala picked us up from Ella and also drove us to our next destination. His pricing was always lower than PickMe or Uber, and he was so genuine and reliable that we ended up using him and his friends for all our transport needs for the rest of our trip. We truly felt so looked after and would 100% recommend this stay to anyone looking for an authentic and welcoming experience in Sri Lanka.

Amazing safari with lots of crocs, birds and elephants, great location close to park entrance and great food. The balcony was great and we can’t thank the owner enough for providing transfers too.

Really clean, incredibly kind family, the best Sri Lankan meals we had during the whole trip! We did a safari through them as well and saw lots of elephants. Including the ones just outside the accommodations from the porch.

Nothing. We wished we had stayed longer. Our kids really missed her cooking when we continued on to the rest of our trip.

We stayed here for one night, making the journey from Hiriketiya. We were met by the owner Shivanthi and her daughter Samadhi with big smiling faces which was so welcoming. The whole stay was just perfect, so close to the National Park, the scenery and greenery were beautiful. The house has a gorgeous big balcony overlooking the road where elephants come along. We were lucky enough to see an elephant right in front of the house and just sat on the balcony admiring the view. Shivanthi and her family were wonderful hosts, so kind and friendly. She made us a beautiful Sri Lankan meal that evening, and arranged a safari with her husband Nalaka the next day. The safari was amazing, we loved every second of it, Nalaka was a great guide. Once we returned, we were welcomed with a beautiful breakfast before they had arranged a taxi to take us up to Ella. We couldn't recommend it enough, it was simply perfect. Made our trip in Sri Lanka and made everything so easy for us. The whole family was wonderful.

The most wholesome and wonderful stay of our trip. The hosts were very kind and humble people and prepared delicious dinner as well as breakfast for us. The food was quite a feast in itself. You can also reach out to them if you need any transportation or booking with the safari, they will arrange it for you at good price. If lucky you could see the elephants wandering across the road too.

We had an amazing time at this home stay. We were accommodated by this hard-working family during our visit. Amazing breakfast and dinner were served with care and generosity. Also, they provided helpful information and even provided chairs and snacks outside while we were waiting for the bus! We did the safari with them too and we got to see so many animals, just being at the right place at the right moment. Also, you can catch many animals from the balcony of the house! The hosts were amazing, it’s a real whole family effort! Delicious meals, warm hospitality, and also an amazing safari. Comfortable rooms, would recommend booking one with AC unless you are particularly good with heat! Right by Udawalawe National Park which means you can see lots of wildlife even from the balcony, there’s often an elephant watching you as you eat!
