Budget Guesthouse Borgustova

I will certainly look to stay here again when I next visit the Faroe Islands (I am sure there will be a next time). I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious public rooms and single bedroom which I had booked. The mattress was particularly comfortable and the house and bedroom were warm and clean. Full cooking facilities in the kitchen. The house is slightly dated in decor but for the price and convenience of the location and amount of space, this only served to make it more charming.

Nothing.

Excellent location. We stayed for nine nights and basically had the entire house to ourselves. Felt like you were staying at your grandparents house. Very comfortable and quiet.

I would say my only complaints would be the shower head and the bed sheets. Those two small things could have been better.

Overall it was a great value for money. The point was to stay at a place to sleep and cook when necessary, therefore it did meet my expectations.

However a higher frequency in cleaning would have increased my score. In 12 days I didn't see any staff member cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom. Also, considering I stayed there for that long an extra towel would have turned out great. The freezer keeps frosting up, I had to scratch the extra ice blocking the door so I could close it. It doesn't seem to be a problem caused during these days, I'm sure it's been happening for months.

Cleanliness. The room was not clean, hairs on the window sill and floor etc. The sink was not cleaned for a long time.

Very convenient place and location. Clear explanation by message at the arrival to get the key, the room was confortable and clean. You can relax in the house, you feel like home!

The lounge area and oven works well. Could have overlooked the little things wrong but the smell was too much.

Don't mind simple and basic accommodation but having to endure the smell of this apartment for 4 nights was horrible. Other people have complained about things at this property with comments from the host that he has rectified the problem. This is not the case. An automatic fragrance dispenser trying to cover the stink of the plumbing is not fixing it. And masking tape on the toilet, not sure what that's about. We would have appreciated proper pillows (not thin cushions) which evidently the host in comments also was going to replace. We used the washing machine but you have to use the dryer as the washing line doesn't extend properly. Because our bathroom was so unpleasant to be in we thought we would try the shared bathroom but the shower had green mould and not enough hot water for a bath. We would have also appreciated a toaster. Even the seal on the sink plug doesn't work so you have to wash the dishes in a bowl. The view was not as described for us, just a building across the road. I get this is cheap accommodation for Faroe prices but we have had top class facilities for the same price in other destinations and like many aspects on Faroe I wonder if you really want tourists to visit when you charge them a lot of money and deliver not much.

The house is looking like a local one, with a very nice shared area (super comfy sofas, chairs, tv, blankets, dinning area, kitchen, laundry room, ...) and 3 bedrooms that can be locked and that share a toillett and a bathroom (they are separed, the shower and the wc are in separate rooms which is great). Most of the time we were alone and the day there was somebody it was very nice to share experiences. Our flight got delayed 1 day and without asking they did not charge us (that was very kind). The house is clean, location is great and quiet, value for the money is very good. I can only recommend it and say thanks to Gunar for being so nice with us.
