Wingate Hotel Wilgamuwa

This is a very good place to stay in Wilgamuwa. It is located facing the main road and is only about 20 km from the entrance to Wasgamuwa National Park. They arranged a safari jeep for me at a reasonable charge of LKR 10,000, which is suitable for up to 8 people, although only 2 of us used it. There is also a very good restaurant within walking distance known as "Thuruliya Restaurant" A variety of Sri Lankan food is available for lunch and dinner, and the restaurant is open until 9:00 PM.

The hotel is well built and equipped with all the necessary facilities, including air conditioning and furniture. However, the main issue I noticed is that the property is not well maintained. I would like to suggest to the host that regular cleaning of the floors and bathrooms should be arranged, and dust and cobwebs on the walls and roof should be removed even when guests are not occupying the rooms regularly. It would also be good to replace the old taps and showers in the bathrooms, as these are not very costly. If these improvements are made, the property will become much smarter, cleaner, and more pleasant than its current condition. You may even be able to charge more than the current rate.

It’s a simple place to sleep, but the rooms are spacious, with air conditioning available, a clean bathroom, and breakfast on request. The staff is nice. This is not a very touristic area, so there are not many options nearby. If you need dinner, you have to drive to the next town, Hettipola. Wasgamuwa park is definitely worth it.

Es kam mir ein wenig wie ein verlassenes Geisterhaus vor. Hinzu kam dass bis 23.30 Uhr mega laut geredet wurde und Türen geknallt wurden dass ich nicht schlafen konnte. Ich weiss nicht ob das andere Gäste oder die Eigentümer waren. Um 5.00 ging der Lärm dann wieder von vorne los, alles in allem habe ich aufgrund dessen gar nicht gut geschlafen! Es ist auch mega abgelegen, keine Möglichkeiten für Abendessen oder so.
