Bird House Mirissa

The property was really charming and peaceful, and the home cooked food was delicious and affordable. Super friendly hosts. Highly recommend staying here if you want a rustic, authentic experience in Mirissa!

The tree house is constructed brilliantly. It has everything you need for a night or two. We enjoyed being surrounded by nature - dogs, cows, fireflies, peacocks and even monkeys! We had a great dinner by Ishan’s mother. Very friendly family and fantastic hosts. Ishan also gave us some great recommendations and helped us book dolphin and whale tour and surf lessons whilst we were in Marissa.

The Bird House is an absolute hidden gem for nature lovers! The location, in the middle of the jungle, is simply stunning – you’re surrounded by nature and can observe plenty of wildlife. The host family is incredibly friendly and helpful. The food, lovingly prepared by the mother, was definitely a highlight – authentic and delicious! I felt very comfortable and well taken care of throughout my stay. I will definitely be coming back!

The location is absolutely perfect, just a very short walk from mirissa beach and the main road, but far enough away so you don’t hear the noise coming from the main road. Also, Laila, Ishan’s mother, is the best cook around so anyone who stays at the bird house MUST try her food, especially all the breakfast options! Ishan is also a very attentive and helpful host, full of good tips and suggestions

Mosquitos got the better of us after 8 days here

Amazing service , with very friendly and attentive staff. Everything was spotless, clean, and well-maintained. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay

The welcoming was great and the hote as well, he gave us good place to eat and watch the sunset. The location is great. Near by beach and restaurant And the place it’s really cute, if you want something really comfy don’t go but it’s worth it for the price.

The host was very friendly! We could chat with him a lot and he suggested places around. The house was like a tree house you can connect with nature and hear the sounds of nature. You can pay a little extra for delicious dishes prepared by the host’s mom. Amazing experience.

The owners are really nice and gave us great hints for Mirissa, but also for other spots in Sri Lanka (such as for Ella and Sinharaja). The location of Bird House is incredible. Within 5 minutes youre at one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka and the main street with ATM‘s, a Supermarket and some good Restaurants is also close (not noisy tho). The Restaurants however are not needed, as you can get a very good and affordable breakfast, lunch and dinner at Bird House cooked by the owners mom. Overall, I think you cant get anything better in this price category. Its a really cool experience to be this close to some animals (peacocks, monkeys, etc) and nature itself, but also very close to all the action.
