Bird House Mirissa

Location was walking distance from everything Mirissa has to offer. The host was amazing, always checking in and making sure your needs were met. The food was also great! Restaurant and excursion recommendations were very helpful! The place was super clean as well.

Surrounding streets don’t have many streetlights, it’s dark to walk around in the evenings.

Ishan and his family are the most welcoming people. His mum cooked us amazing meals and they all made us feel like we belonged. The bird house is surprisingly spacious thing with the quirks of a building made by hand with love. We enjoyed reading on the balcony as fireworks went off and peacocks called to each other. Fireflys dance in the area at night and the local nightlife is fantastic. Ishan is so helpful and honest- he organised trips and gave us advice on avoiding tourist traps and making the most of our time. We will be back!

It was a lovely place to stay, very special room. The mother cooks very good and the son really tries to help you with everything. It’s walking distance to everything.

It was a treehouse and we had never stayed at one, so was a great experience for us. We were the first Indians to stay there. Good facilities, nice wholesome home cooked breakfast, good location, waking ip to the sound of birds and peacocks. Go for it. 👍🏻

Mornings began with freshly brewed tea on the balcony, overlooking the serene greenery. The view was breathtaking, with natural light streaming through the trees, making it a tranquil spot to start the day. The breakfast was another highlight—authentic Sri Lankan delicacies served on banana leaves. The spread included soft string hoppers, fresh milk rice, delicious curries, and traditional accompaniments like coconut sambol, making it a delightful culinary experience. The peaceful balcony, with its handcrafted wooden railings, provided a perfect retreat. Whether enjoying a quiet moment or simply soaking in the beauty of nature, the house’s design seamlessly blends with its surroundings. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. This place is perfect for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway while experiencing the authentic charm of Sri Lanka. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return!

This has been my fave place in Sri Lanka so far. The tree house is adorable with lots of cute little details and the family who runs it are very friendly. The mum is the best cook. The food is massive and delicious, highly recommend you take dinner or lunch there.
