There was no basic needs available like towels and mug in the washroom . There was no ceiling fan and it kept us hot

"Was very sad to leave here"

9.0

The room here was basic but so clean, the shower and bathroom were clean and working, aircon and fan good, Places to hang clothes and a lovely little patio! At night we saw firefly’s and sometimes elephants come! It is set in a beautiful garden and lovely jungle sounds at night 🥰. Also as everybody said the family are really beautiful and kind, Our food and breakfast was so so delicious, all fresh with veg and fruit in the garden. They welcome you in like a family member and we will really miss being around them, especially Lila who couldn’t do enough of us.

The property is a little out of the way, we had no problem getting tuktuks whilst we where there and you could also hire a bike. The drivers are wary of the elephants but picked us up early morning (5am) and the latest we where dropped was 9pm.

If you like off beat places and spending a night close to nature this is the best option. With forest all around and plantations done by the host family in the area there is a lot of greenery. Host is a lovely person and will take care of your needs. She arranged Srilankan delicacies for breakfast, bread toast and lots of fruits. Bus stop is at a walkable distance and tuktuk's are available from there. We spotted monitor lizard nearby and the whole place was calm and serene especially when it was raining.

"A nice quiet place to stay & support a local family!"

7.0

The host family were all very welcoming & friendly. The bed was comfy and the fan + AC helped keep the room cool. Breakfast & Dinner were always very delicious, although the breakfasts were sometimes very simple (just toast with butter and coconut syrup one morning).

We had some issue with the shower not functioning properly but the host said they would get it fixed so maybe not something anyone else will need to worry about? Also, besides the warnings about the wild elephants presenting a potential safety concern (we never did see any elephants), the amount of stray dogs, and the aggressiveness of quite a few of the dogs we encountered, inhibited our feelings of being able to freely & safely walk around.

"Very good"

8.0

The location is very quiet. You can spot various small animals. The only breakfast we had was a real Srilankan food and it was very interesting to taste it. :) The owners even open a jack fruit for us.

The location is ok during the day. But during the night (for example for night safari) it is harder to get a tuktuk. You can’t go by yourself because on the last 300 m to the hause might be elephants Some tuk tuk drivers won’t come because they are scared of elephants as well. The owners does not speak english at all. We had to ask about the time of the breakfast by ourselves.

Beautiful authentic home stay in Sigiriya, Lila and her family were incredibly kind and helpful. Lila cooked us a beautiful dinner & breakfast.

It is quite far from the centre and you can’t walk back past 7pm, so you do need a scooter or Tuktuk!

"Perfectly adequate value for money but you could probably get the same value a bit closer to town"

6.0

We liked the little verandah to sit on and the shady garden. The room and bed are comfortable and bathroom is spacious and clean. They have just refurbished so the furniture is all new.

The family is nice, but communication (e.g. getting tips on the area) is a bit difficult as they speak very little English. The location is very tranquil and a bit out of the way, which means that you have to get a tuktuk if you want to have dinner elsewhere as it's dangerous to walk around because of elephants. We ended up having dinner cooked by the family instead, which was okay but not great.

Little oasis in the bush. The family is the sweetest. So welcoming and accommodating. And the food with fresh produce from their garden is just outstanding. The best homestay we experienced in Sri Lanka so far!
