Loved the Island, breakfast was very good, beds comfortable and the room spacious. Fantastic host, warm and welcoming house and it was a wonderful surprise to be met at the ferry for a ride to the house. We loved that we could gain access to our room when we arrived and could use the house until our ferry left, with another ride to the ferry.

Guesthouse Basar was certainly more than I expected. Host Gagga greeted us as if we were family. She picked us up at the ferry dock and was often checking in to see if anyone needed anything. She was concerned when we hadn't seen any puffins yet and helped point them out when she saw them. She served a continental breakfast at the requested time and made recommendations for things to do. She told us about life on Grimsey and treated us like good friends. She even gave us rides a couple of times, even though the island is small enough you could walk anywhere. The guesthouse has a large kitchen we were allowed to use, full size fridge and all the pots, dishes, etc. we needed. Tap water pure and good for drinking. The inside is in like-new condition. My room had two twin beds and plenty of space to put my belongings. Also it was a relief to have linens without the smell of fragrance. No clutter. Outlets where you need them, tables and lamps by the bed. There are several rooms upstairs and one bathroom. Downstairs a couple more guest rooms and one bathroom. Bathroom is a bit tight, with a low doorway. You take your shower and get out so the next person can have a chance. Also dining and sitting areas with some books and games. The front looks out on the ocean. Don't be concerned about the airport being right next to it, there are hardly any flights. We didn't see a plane at all. Grimsey was an unforgettable experience and I'm so glad I stayed the two nights to have a chance to take it in.

An amazing place to visit and stay on Grimsey. We were picked up by the owner who had also made us fresh coffee and soup. It was such a wonderful, homely place. Th local people are so kind caring and helpful! GaGa the owner gave us lifts on several occasions to various parts of the island. The island and this hotel are definitely worth a visit!
