Ayu Taman Sari

My room on ground floor by the pool was spacious and equipped with a comfortable double bed, ample space for storage, towels and an AC. The latter was rather seasoned so it did produce a certain humming which made me use earplugs as I’m a light sleeper. Talking of the sound level, I personally did notice the sound of the passing by scooters as the property is located on a through-street. Thus at daytime, the notorious noise of the villager boys’ pimped motorbikes cannot completely neglected. Overall though, it’s reasonably quiet and certainly not a busy place. That being said, the pool just as the beautiful garden make for a lovely and relaxing spot to read and let the day go past. Since the homestay also happens to be a bakery and restaurant, there is not even a need to leave the house. The food is delicious. And most importantly all of the ladies working in the homestay besides the cutest of all housedogs, Muchi, are such sweethearts, and all of them make for a wonderful experience.

Good budget options are becoming harder to find these days. Ayu Taman Sari, although a bit dated, still ticks all the boxes; fridge, aircon & wifi all worked well, comfy bed, great little pool, lovely staff & a delicious breakfast served on the little terrace outside the room included. Off the noisy & traffic-laden main drag so a peaceful option whilst still an easy walk into central Candi. Convenient for walking to Tenganan Village too.

A few maintenance issues in the bathroom; no shower head so water just dribbled out of the pipe & no hot water (which I knew beforehand). I didn't care about these little things & appreciated what I did get for the price I paid!

This owner is a scam. PLEASE PLEASE BE AWARE. We were silly enough to only read the good old reviews and only saw the truth after arriving . We tried to make the best of it as never complain before as you get what you pay for , but this experience was another story. NO POWER. We had to keep turning it back on ourselves at dangerous mains, for it to go off again every 5 minutes, we told the owner several times and all we got was sorry I forgot about power. We hung around a few hours to be fair , then she never came back to help us .We had leave, construction everywhere. Dirty and dangerous. She has it set up with the booking site that no matter what you can get a refund . This place is not anything like as advertised and she just sits back and keeps your money knowing you can't get a refund even with no power. We are not alone in our experience but didn't read until after it happened to us . Please don't book this place . We were so nice about it and gave her the opportunity to do the right thing , only asked for one night refund not the two even though we didn't stay even one night ,
