"Exceptional"

10.0

We stayed at Villa la Maas Tota for 2 nights - and I was extremely happy with our experience! Gayashan, chef Sudagaran, Annuruda, Malinth, Salitha, Tharanga, and Kanagaraj, all were absolutely amazing - so friendly and attended to all our requests, they made sure we were comfortable and despite the rainy weather we managed to have some quality family time at the beautiful villa. The villa is tastefully designed and furnished. Watching the sunrise over the mountains was so breathtaking. Pictures don't do justice. The views are spectacular, the road getting up to the villa is a bit challenging but they have their own jeep that can take you right up to the villa. The BBQ dinner was delicious and the food that were served for all meals were healthy and well prepared. There's no wifi at the villa but I think that was the best part - it forced us to enjoy all the amenities and natural surroundings and create beautiful memories with our family! I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to escape busy city life. You will feel so refreshed and relaxed after staying at Villa La Maas Tota!

"Superb"

9.0

Our stay at the villa was really nice. Breathtaking views, spacious and clean room, very accommodating and friendly staff. Staff made sure our stay was really positive, we really enjoyed every second of the stay. One of the staff members Raj was also very kind to take us for a walk to a nearby waterfall.

The only downsides to staying at the villa are the limited food options (no restaurant on site, no bar), the lack of Wi-Fi, and the very limited network.

"A beautiful and relaxing spot"

9.0

A sublime hotel in total peace - no noise or traffic, and a total break from the internet to unplug. We had Sri Lankan dishes every day and they were superb, breakfast was very good too. The pool is divine and the view magnificent. The staff are wonderful, so kind and caring. Definitely take advantage of the waterfall hikes, or even just the walk around the property. The bed was the most comfortable we had on our whole trip, and we stayed in many nice places.

I mention these points more as information that someone may want to act on than criticisms. - There was no hot water our entire stay (four days) - Our initial point person at the property, while lovely, spoke very little English. This was problematic as we had logistical issues and a delivery coming to us, and without internet or any way of communicating with him it was worrisome. The second butler spoke much better English and arrived two days after we did and helped sort out some issues. - The property shows a lot of wear and tear. It would be good for someone to attend to all the things that are scuffed, stained, broken and moldy, as it brings down the image of the hotel. At the very least, the copious amounts of mold inside the fridge and in the bathroom could be cleaned. There is no proper ventilation in the shower or bathroom.
