The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful! They organised safari for us, we had our own tour guide who was also great and we saw lots of animals and wildlife. They even brought us fresh hot food for lunch while on safari! Thank you again!

The hotel is beautiful. Really really beautiful. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, the aircon strong. Lovely pool area. Honestly lovely. We didn’t do the safari with this hotel but they do organise it and the guest book in our room had several reviews that spoke very highly of their tours.

The restaurant was closed whilst we were there so we did not get to experience the food. When I asked for recommendations for other restaurants he told me to use google. I found the man that runs it a little stoic and standoffish. He didn’t smile even when I tried to compliment the hotel, I don’t know if he was annoyed we hadn’t booked the tour with the hotel or if that is just his personality but I didn’t get a friendly vibe. The other staff seemed friendly enough.

Great accommodation by the National Park. Close to restaurants (we liked Hungry Monkeys). Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was good and we would happily stay here again!

The hotel was lovely. Only two rooms at the moment, but they are planning to build more. Each room has a bedroom with very comfy bed, mozzie nets, aircon and bathroom ensuite, and a sitting room with no aircon. The outdoor swimming pool is modern and fabulous. The restaurant is wonderful - it's under cover outdoors and serves delicious dishes. Excellent wifi and the staff were really great and very helpful. The Elephant Transit House is a few minutes' walk away, so it's very easy access to watch feeding time (highly recommended). The hotel arranged an Elephant Safari for us in Udawalawe National Park. Options of 3 hours, 6 hours or 12 hours. We chose 6 hours and felt this was about the right amount of time to be bumping around in a jeep! We saw lots of elephants and other wildlife and our driver was great at spotting things and pointing them out. I would definitely stay here again. It was so nice - I wish we had been able to stay more than two nights! Thank you.

The path to our room was a little overgrown so I was anxious about any spiders being too close!

Würden nicht wiederkommen! Man hat dort das Gefühl, dass es dem Inhaber nur um Profit geht. Kontakt super unfreundlich, Unterkunft ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen. Zum Apartment gehört ein Restaurant, welches auf unserer Reise zu den schlechtesten gehört hat (schlechter Service, lange Wartezeiten, wenig Geschmack, überteuerte Preise und kleine Portionen). Wir haben uns hier einfach nicht wohl gefühlt.

This was my favorite hotel in Sri Lanka! Perfect location across the street from the Elephant Transit Home and 7 minutes walk to the reservoir to see the wild elephants without a safari. The place is stunning, surrounded by a beautiful garden, with the best swimming pool and the woodwork everywhere is amazing with all the details. We ate our favorite breakfast in all of Sri Lanka too, hoppers and even an egg hopper. The room itself is out of a safari dream, incredible design with lots of different spaces to enjoy both inside and out. Great bed, AC, TV, ceiling fan, mosquito net, hot shower, tea kettle, welcome drinks and chocolate cake even! But the bathroom takes the cake, it’s an indoor/outdoor setting with every feature possible to enjoy nature in the privacy of your room. Janaka cared for us like we were family and walking in seeing a welcome sign with my name written really touched us to feel at home. He gave us perfect advice about timing activities and even the best place to stay at our next location, also he gave us a lovely parting gift. All the staff were so kind and attentive but also gave us complete privacy. There are only two gorgeous rooms so catching the window of availability is like winning the lottery. I will always remember The Elephant Next Door and will long to return one day. Thank you so much, congratulations!

Beyond perfect!

We really enjoyed our stay here - Lovely place in a great location. Rooms very comfortable, tasty breakfast and nice food served in restaurant.
