The Elephant Next-Door

Beautiful accommodation right next to Udawalawe Park. The room is simple but comfortable and clean. The staff is super attentive and pays great attention to detail. We booked a safari through them and it was incredible, we saw so many elephants!! They have a lovely pool area where you can relax after the safari and a small restaurant.

Dinner service at the restaurant is very slow (over 1 hour waiting time), but you can order your meal in advance to avoid the wait.

Wszystko na najwyższym poziomie, byliśmy zaopiekowani od wejścia: wnoszenie bagaży i poczęstunek ciasto i owoce w płynie. Miejsce przeurocze! Przestronne pokoje z niesamowitym klimatem, czyściutko, pyszne jedzonko w restauracji. Wzięliśmy też safari od nich i było zorganizowane na 100%, łącznie ze śniadankiem i wodą i przekąskami na drogę. Również zorganizowali nam transport w dalszą drogę. Wszystko dopięte na ostatni guzik. No i obsługa niezwykła.

The best place to stay in Udawalawe for an amazing elephant safari. The host organised our transport from Dickwella and onto Ella with their own driver. He also booked our safari with their amazing guide who has been a ranger for 10 years and was so knowledgeable about the park. He obviously genuinely cares for the Elephants. We went at 5.20 am and were delighted to see so many elephants and wild life. The actual accommodation is beautiful and very spacious and the swimming pool so appreciated as it was very hot! Food and service were both excellent. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Die Anlage ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet. Es gibt zwei Zimmer, ein Restaurant und einen Pool. Das Frühstück ist üppig, man kann wählen zwischen einem lokalen und einem kontinentalen Frühstück. Die Betten sind sehr bequem und die Klimaanlage war perfekt eingestellt; nicht zu kalt und nicht zu warm. Die Lage war perfekt um früh morgens zur Safari aufbrechen zu können. Wir wurden regelmäßig mit Frischwasser versorgt, ebenso wurde die Weiterfahrt für uns organisiert.

Das Außenbad ist optisch schön und funktionsfähig allerdings ist der Steinboden in der Dusche nicht praktisch zum Duschen. Der Gastgeber hat uns ab dem Zeitpunkt der Buchung bis zum Tag nach der Anreise mit WhatsApp Nachrichten penetriert, teilweise bis zu 5 Nachrichten am Tag. Was gut gemeint war hat uns zunehmend unter Druck gesetzt und am Ende wirklich genervt. Das Abendessen war zwar fein aber wir mussten leider 1,5h auf das Essen warten. Ebenfalls störend waren die unzähligen Mücken, welche den Pool leider nicht nutzbar gemacht haben. Auch das überall bereit gestellten Gem Spray hat nicht geholfen.

Perfect place to stay for visiting Udawalawe safari. Janaka and his team were some of the nicest people we met in Sri Lanka. The driver to and from Udawalawe and the jeep safari that Janaka arranged were excellent, and we highly recommend booking all services through him on WhatsApp. The food at the hotel was super tasty, and the hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful, and very relaxing.

We didn't want to leave!
