River View Cottages

Warm welcome from our host. We enjoyed the cottage in the beautiful surroundings. Stunning sunset and viewing stars at night. Overall very enjoyable and can definitely recommend. Thank you.

It was extremely windy, and it was unpleasant to braai outside with the fear of starting a veld fire. Perhaps consider providing an alternative for these exceptional weather conditions (undercover braai).

Beautiful and remote. Peaceful. Fab to lounge in with nice hikes too. The scenery is stunning. Fab braai area. Canoes and a river to swim in. Romantic cliff edge sundowner spot.

I’m a bit of a wimp so lizards and the dark freak me out. My husband loved everything.

The cottage is away from it all, and has a lovely view. Enjoyed the hikes in the area, very early in the morning though to avoid the heat. The cottage is nicely furnished and well equipped kitchen.

Unfortunately it was incredibly hot when we were there, and the flies made things quite unpleasant at times. Although there is a fan in the bedroom, another in the living room would have been helpful. We only stayed 2 nights, but would definitely need a bigger fridge for a self catering place. There's no cell service, so we were hopeful to be able to get wifi near the house, but this never worked, and although they're just doing their job, the dogs barked whenever we approached near the main house where we were meant to be able to get reception, but still couldn't. 8km of dirt road to get reception. We wanted to explore the Calitzdorp area, and would have appreciated some advice on wine farms in the area, and where to go, besides just staying at the farm area. The brown river wasn't too inviting to swim, with greenish film on top.

Most amazing location, swimming in the Gamka was unbelievable. It was so so hot and with load shedding it made it hard to sleep, but was a truly memorable experience! It is a long way along a bit of a scary dirt road to the cottages...so make sure you take all you need. Had a fantastic early morning hike. If you like an adventure this is for you ..

The heat...

Location is incredible, with so much variety included as part of the stay - hiking, kayaking, swimming, birding, braaing. One of the best spots for sundowners on the top of the cliff. Would recommend three nights minimum

We already knew the River View Cottages and wanted to go there back again. The Cottages are in a sort of stylish, but also simple and have everything you need. The surrounding is beautiful and it is very quiet. The walk you can do is very nice and gives you nice viewas of the landscape. The hosts are very helpful and are always there if you need something.
