"Staycation worthy❤️"

10.0

The hotel is nice, quiet and accessible to Tesco, bus stops, few pubs and cafes nearby, and beach. It is just a bus ride to St Ives town center as well, if you're the type of person who doesn't like crowd, this is the perfect place to stay. They have a dining room and a big patio and garden which is perfect for families and children. There's no lift, and staircase are narrow, you'll be lucky with heavy luggage staying on the ground floor but we stayed in the 2nd floor, and the view from the garden and the beach is worth it too.

"Avoid like the plague"

2.0

Stayed here over New Year’s Eve. Firstly we were stuck outside for well over 20 minutes only to be let in by other guests. Room was tiny with poor features, such as; Inconsistent water temperatures either freezing cold or boiling hot. Cold temperature in room - although radiator was set at full temperature setting. No room to stand and use handheld shower. As well as this staff seemed to be non existent and even rude when arriving at the hotel. I would really recommend looking elsewhere if you are staying in the area!

"Good value place to stay"

8.0

This was a good value place to stay. Room very clean, several small flights of stairs to room but this wasn't an issue. Fridge freezer in communal room very useful. Located close to Tesco which has a Costa coffee shop and directly opposite pathway leading to coast walk to Carbis Bay beach and St.Ives. Plenty of parking space.Would stay again and make use of the buses. There was a bus timetable in the hallway to refer to.

"Cosy, quaint, but a little eerie."

8.0

Just returned after a three night stay. Room was comfortable with a lovely view, although the bathroom was a little dated. Outside had a lovely decking area where I often enjoyed breakfast or a beer. One thing that surprised me was how eerily quiet the place was, despite being summer, I hardly ever saw another person. But all in all nice place to stay, and a perfect location 5-10 minutes walk from the beach, and 20 minutes to the front of St Ives.

"Visit to st merryns hotel st Ives"

2.0

Although the location of this hotel is great ie 15 min walk to carbis bay beach, the owners need a reality check in terms of what they are offering. Breakfast was not included in tariff £130 per night but no water provided in room, no fan, no fridge in room and dated bathroom where shower flow was no less than a drip. Ref fridge there was only one in communal room but this was full to brim so difficult to put all stuff in fridge Recommendations 1. At least provide a continental breakfast as have to put something back in to guest experiences 2. Provide bottled water in room. It’s a basic requirement 3. Install mini fridges in rooms so not trying to squeeze in one’s products to full fridge 4. Improve shower facilities so water flow is reasonable 5. Location is great but need to add a few more positives to make the overall experience one to remember

"Do you like living in 1960's?"

4.0

Travelled here with a coach company. Could go into much more detail about this place. It has had good reviews in the past but I understand it was up for sale not too long ago and the owners have decided to stay on but obviously have not bothered about doing it up. It certainly was not up the standard that I would normally choose. A few things that should be changed are unhygenic carpet on bathroom floor, bathroom suite that doesn't match, staff that need lessons in politeness, breakfast ok but evening meal not brilliant. All in all if you had stayed here in 1960's you'd have thought it was brilliant but if it wants to survive it needs bringing into the 21st century. Would I stay here again - never. My verdict - Don't bother.

"Perhaps those who have a problem ought to push off to a Marriott."

10.0

Don't book this hotel if you expect B and B prices with Marriott service. There's something insidious about people that roll up on a value coach tour then list a litany of complaints detailing how the hotel fails to live up to their expectations. It's clean, friendly and fit for purpose yet people squawk about outmoded decor and lack of lifts. Visit their website, do your research and put on your big boy pants. If it doesn't look as though it will suit you, book somewhere else. Don't turn up, moan your little heart out whilst saving a pretty penny. Instead pop over to a 5 star hotel instead and enjoy what you pay for.

"Nice Hotel, Great Staff, Nice Setting"

10.0

My wife, daughter and I stayed at St Merryn from 1 to 5 July 2019, as part of a Leisuretime (Wales) tour of south-west Cornwall and the Scilly Isles. The owners, Mike and Blanche, were genuinely welcoming, and the maid/waitress staff were also first-rate. Rooms were relatively spacious and well-equipped, but remember that this is not a '5 Star' hotel, and neither does it claim to be. Don't expect exotic fare like 'Cornish Crab and Escargot Goujons' for dinner. This was a standard British menu, but it was fresh, very well-cooked, and catered extremely well for the clientele on our trip. Immediately in front of the hotel there is a lane called 'Wheal Margaret', which will lead you down to the South-West Coastal Path. If you head left, you'll have a lovely 30-40 minute stroll into St Ives via Porthminster Beach. Alternatively, you can keep going straight down onto beautiful Carbis Bay (though the uphill return is pretty gruelling). To the left of the hotel is the popular 'Cornish Arms' pub, then the magnificent grounds of Tregenna Castle. If you turn right when leaving the hotel, a 100-yard walk will take you to the Tesco Superstore ( but note that it is only open from 8am to 8pm). There is a frequent local bus service on the main road to and from St-Ives/Penzance, etc. All in all, the hotel, its staff and its setting far exceeded our expectations.

"Coach Driver review"

10.0

Well upon arrival and carefully manovered in reverse into hotel greatest by owner who is a lovely guy fair play. There is a large enough car park He instructed my passengers on the arrival procedure Unfortunately there is no lift at this hotel and some passengers struggled as most are the recycled teenagers age group However with help from myself and staff the cases got delivered. The rooms are nice and comfortable, some have better views than others. There's always plenty of tea coffee supply. And the bathrooms are nice size. Obviously rooms are different sizes. I think there is only one ground floor room though. The dining room is very pleasant and if not like choice on menus again the owner take it to make an alternative which was an awesome gesture. The food itself is awesome. Both breakfast and evening meal. Nothing is too much trouble here. The bar I loved it reasonably priced not too bad selection of drinks consider it's a small family run hotel. And there was entertainment for my passengers There is also a pleasant quiet room too. Is love to thank all the staff for all the effort you guys put in. See u all soon I hope Andrew Driver
