Location was a bit far from town I didn’t like walking on the main road after dark

Great place for a short stay during off season, very reasonable rates big clean room with big bed and overhead fan. It’s above the family house and very small, only 2 rooms! Location is very good just beyond the Marriott hotel. Bathroom isn’t en-suite.

Lovely terrace and garden that was beautifully lit. Room well thought out and nicely done. It had everything and more. Short stroll to the beach. Family lovely. I will return.

The Bay House is a nice hotel situated outside of the center of Weligama, 200mt from the sea (with private access to the beach), surrounded by palm trees and a peaceful garden (well curated every day by Abey). Everything can be reached by foot, the sea, the surf schools, the city center, the ATM, the Bus, even the train station is not to far. The host, is a lovely family, able to make you feel safe and happy every day, they work very hard to make the place always beautiful, full of the colors of the flowers, and the happiness of squirrels and birds. They offer a lot of services, all at a fair price (they are not tourist shark, they are really good persons), bike or motorbike rental, water at a better price than the super market, laundry, just to name some, but they are always ready to satisfy your need, with a smile. Rashmi prepare some really great dish, for breakfast lunch or dinner (she even did some special soup for me one day when i had some fever), and not only, she is always ready to help you for any problem or request you might have. Daia will always great you with a big smile and waving hands, and i still remember the special rice she offered me the first few days i were there (sorry cant remember the name). The rooms are very clean (probably the most clean on Weligama), and have good smell, and they maintain them in really good conditions, the beds are comfortable, and there is a fridge what you can use to store drinks or fruits. There is always water, and the 2 Bath both have even warm water (in case you need, in 57 days i newer felt the need, there were 31 deg. outside) I stayed 57 days in this place, and loved every single one, and i really felt part of the family. Tnx for the great days we had together.

Very friendly/ helpful host family, close to the beach, nice private room without anyone living above or below, only one adjacent neighboring room

The neighbor's barking dog was a bit of nuisance.
