Saudafell Guesthouse

Zweckmäßig

This was our first stay in Iceland, and the drive to the guesthouse from the airport is epic, gorgeous, unlike anything experienced in my lifetime. The house is situated with a view of other farms, and the sea, and is on a working farm with sheep and horses and even a family cemetery. The guesthouse is spotless, with a terrific shared kitchen, a lovely sitting room, with family memorabilia and photos, very cozy and warm. The rooms are well-appointed, not fancy but comfortable. There is a bathroom on the second floor, shared, and I believe two on the first floor. Berglind and Finnbogi are very gracious hosts and were enjoyable to talk to. Their sweet dog was lovely to pet and visit with every morning, outside the guesthouse. We met several other travelers, which was fun. Breakfast is provided, and it's generous and delicious. Berglind made traditional Icelandic bread, called Rúgbrauð, and I am obsessed with it. I have found recipes online and will make it myself! All in all, you can't go wrong with Saudafell Guesthouse.

I can't think of anything that we did not like.

The hosts are lovely, and I learned so much about Icelandic life from them. There are plenty of things closeby to do, too, that are not in guidebooks which they recommended. Try to stay more than 1 night!

Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Frühstück mit den Gastgebern zusammen - diese wohnen im Haus nebenan. Frühstück war sehr gut - alles was man erwartet war vorhanden. Die Grösse des Einzelzimmers im ersten Stock war im Mittelfeld - nicht üppig, aber auch nicht knapp. Es gab einen kleinen Schreibtisch im Zimmer. 3x Bad+WC für insgesamt 6 Zimmer. Zimmer und Badezimmer waren sauber. Parkplatz direkt beim Haus. Ein Bauernhof auf dem gearbeitet wird. Danke für die Hilfe bei meiner Reifenpanne !
