Commodore Hotel by Greene King Inns

They don’t serve breakfast before 8 (although they said, in the morning, if I had requested an early breakfast it would have been served) and I needed to leave at 8. The staff were lovely and I got a coffee and orange juice at 7.30, and the chef gave me a ciabatta stuffed with bacon…which was most welcome! It is what it is, a pub…but really good location.

Stair case and corridors decor is tired and doesn't give a good first impression. Room decor is much better. Bedside lamps not adeqate for reading.

Toilet brush would have been useful. I wish all hotel rooms could have a comfortable arm chair for reading or watching TV, would make a big difference. Ambient noise in the bar area when busy is too loud. Think about sound deadening on the ceiling and window coverings.

Too small a double bed And 2 bottles of water £7.20 - extortionate price !

The staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was clean & comfortable. The food & service was great.

Minor point - had to ask for toilet roll twice however this is how I learned how helpful & efficient staff are. Tv is a bit of a tease claiming to have Netflix but didn't, again not something the staff have any control over & I didn't go to watch TV anyway.

Great spot to stay.

Size of the family room, and location, was brilliant. Nice staff and decor in thr pub.

Mattress was hard, pillows were poor.
