Close to city centre, big rooms. Guy from the night reception is unfriendly and pays more attention to his phone than customers, the lady in the morning is super sweet.

The whole thing hasn’t had much love in the past years. Everything looks a bit dirty, broken and faded.

An excellent stay at this friendly guesthouse — I absolutely loved it. It’s a family-run business, and the owner personally takes care of the guests, treating everyone like family. She’s super friendly and helpful. She can arrange all kinds of transportation, and even when I was late, she did her best to help. The breakfast is excellent, and she also offers takeaway food for the bus or slow boat, as well as SIM cards at a good price. Kids are always welcome, and the children around are very friendly too. The guesthouse has been around for more than 20 years, and you can really feel the traditional Lao style — with beautiful, solid wooden furniture throughout the guesthouse and restaurant. It gives a warm and authentic charm to the place. The rooms are decorated in the same traditional style. The bathroom shows a bit of age, but everything is well-maintained and clean. I had an excellent shower during my stay. I also loved the Lao coffee served at the guesthouse — strong, aromatic, and full of flavor. Loved the place, and I’ll definitely be back!

There’s honestly nothing I didn’t like about this place. It was an excellent stay with wonderful people — I truly loved Huay Xai. Huay Xai is a simple town with amazing locals. There isn’t much investment in the area, so businesses work hard to keep things running. I would recommend guests stay a little longer to really experience what Huay Xai has to offer — stunning sunsets, beautiful viewpoints, delicious local food, and small gems like local bakeries and handicraft artisans near the guesthouse. Friendly people, great atmosphere, and a truly local experience. After traveling a while around Laos, I realized that what makes this country so special are its amazing people, they truly value good relationships with guests and those around them more than just doing business for money. The warmest people I’ve ever met.
