Shades of Provence

Wir waren zu dritt angereist und hatten zwei Zimmer gebucht. Es gibt einen großen Aufenthaltsbereich indem man abends schön zusammensitzen und kochen kann. Auch im außenbereich kann man schön sitzen.

Der Check-in war kompliziert. Wann muss jemanden anrufen um den Code für das Tor zu bekommen. Die Telefonnummer ist am Tor hinterlegt. Wir hatten eine örtliche Vodacom SIM-Karte die dort keinen Empfang hatte. Wir sind dann durch den Ort gefahren bis wir mit unserem deutschen Handy Empfang hatten. Das kürzester Zeit war unser Guthaben aufgebraucht und wir konnten dennoch nicht rein weil wir nicht direkt vom Tor standen. Glücklicherweise hat uns dann ein Gast mit hereingenommen. Dann mussten wir wieder anrufen um die Schlüssel für die Zimmer zu finden. Die Schlüssel versteckt an Orten wie man es aus der Schnitzeljagd kennt. Das Haus und das Anwesen ist an sich dann schön aber leider nicht gepflegt. Man merkt dass niemand vor Ort ist. Wir hatten das Glück dass nur ein zusätzlicher Gast in dem Haus gewohnt hat ansonsten könnte es nämlich sehr unruhig und laut werden.

Exactly as described. Quiet, comfortable and felt very French. We had the whole house to ourselves for the first two nights but even when other guests arrived on the third night, there was plenty of room for everyone. Riebeek Kasteel town is also lovely, with a great coffee shop for breakfast (Beans about Coffee) just down the road

The tables and chair cushions outside the front door have a lot of bird poo on them. Thankfully the outside furniture at the side of the house is cleaner so we chose to sit there instead. The pool was quite grubby and while the housekeeper did scoop off fallen leaves from the surface, the actual pool remained uninviting

Quite a trek around and then upstairs to get to the room with your bags. The member of staff who greeted us led the way but there was no offer to help carry anything at all. Greeting wasn’t exactly very welcoming. No explanation of what was clearly a communal kitchen for guests to use. Impossible to dry one’s hair and see what one was doing as all there was, was a drawer unit with a massive wall mounted tv above it, rather than a mirror. Only mirror was behind the bathroom door. Had to crouch in a corner on a chair with my own small mirror balanced on a low shelf which was close to a plug outlet. Not what one would expect. The biggest decorative cushion on the bed virtually covered the day bed seat in the room when taken off the bed. Not much room to sit therefore! All about “looks” rather than functionality.

Nice location The communial area was well equipped Pool is a nice addition Very comfortable beds and bath

Great property with lots of lovely attention to detail ! All beautifully considered and stylish . Great to be able to walk to all activities in the village as great location
