"Good location, that’s it"

Super central location

The room is not well insulated so you have the feeling you sleep on the sidewalk, next to the passing cars. Cleaning - felt like the floor was swiped shortly before we arrived. Dust was still on the floor. Bed linnen were pretty used and in a bad shape.

Location.

A hidden "late check-in" fee of €25. Stingy with the toilet paper. No ac though it appears as an amenity. Rude owner/host who decided he wouldn't let me in until 11pm (2 hours) after my arrival, because I didn't answer his message within booking.com while I had NO INTERNET on an 8-hoir plane ride! If arrangements need to be made, the host should see that they're done at the time of booking, not the day of when people are likely traveling. The shower is so small one cannot even bend over to pick up the soap... And there is NO soap holder conveniently located on the shower wall. No towel hook, nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. Leaky shower head that sprays water all over the bathroom.

"Great stay! I think now I have a home in Catania! Definietly a place to recommend!"

Breakfast was not included in the fee, but the kitchen and dining area were spacious and conveniently available. The fridge, sink, and utensils were in good condition and sufficient. Very comfortable for me. It might be a small detail, but for someone like me who has visited many places around the world (hotels, pensions, hostels), it was important that the water pressure was very good in every sink, shower, and tap in the facility—including the hot water. The apartment is located in a solid, historical building on the second floor (US) or first floor (Europe), so there is not much climbing involved. A small elevator (or lift) is also available. It's located in the heart of downtown, no more than 50 meters from one of the main and most beautiful streets in Catania: Via Etnea. The room was not too big, but it was well-ventilated and had a separate small fridge that I gladly used. There was enough light inside. The bathroom was small but private, with plenty of soft, premium-quality towels. I also appreciated the heavy shades on the windows that blocked out the sun, which led to a good night's sleep. The corridor doors were heavy and generally soundproof, especially compared to other budget places I’ve visited. The patio/smoking area was very nice and convenient. Everything—starting from the corridor and the staircase—was extremely clean and well-maintained (it even had marble steps!). Access from the street was easy, with secure doors and locks.

I’d have to think really hard to find something worth mentioning here; everything worked just fine. Also, I stayed there off-season, so it was quiet enough inside. The city wasn't too noisy either—not much noise came in from the one-way street the property is on, or from the Via Etnea just a few steps away. I noticed a nice niche just behind the room door that looked perfect for installing a few simple hangers for coats or jackets—perhaps an idea for the future? In terms of the kitchen, I could have used a few more cooking utensils, like a wooden spatula, and perhaps more pots? I was not cooking there (just scrambled eggs once or twice), but an electric water kettle would definitely be useful; otherwise, you have to boil water in a pot or in the microwave. Regarding the beach: I visited the one nearest to the port (North side). Since it was March, it’s no wonder it was empty and still a bit messy while getting ready for the season. The beach itself stretches a long way toward the South, though I personally preferred to experience the city itself.

Had some trouble with the front entry until we figured out the quirk and then it was fine.
