A very clean apartment in the middle of the old town. Wonderful hosts, Willing to share information also about history of Matera (the family comes from Matera). We received a free ticket to Casa Grotta. We had access to a rooftop terrace - fully recommend!

It was perfect

First of all the apartment is great location for sightseeing Matera which is the most beatiful place we visited in Italy during that trip (Bari, Polignano a Mare, Monopolis, Matera). It really makes 'wow' effect. The apartment is clean, really comfortable, probably lately renovated. There is a terrace on roof for 2 apartments, but second one was empty during our stay so we had it all for us. Next thing which is worth to mention is attitude of the owners. There are really kind and helpful. For example we arrived in the morning to Matera and check-in is starting at 15:00. We asked the owner to leave our luggage somwhere - the owner just gave us room earlier with no extra charge as it was empty. Really appreciate that. In front of the apartment there is a shop with craft work products where family of owners or owners (not sure about relation with lady who gave us keys :) ) work so we could always count on their help and leave the luggage for few hours after check-out while waiting for transfer. Under the apartment there is a 'Casa grotta' which is also connected to that 'ecosystem' (worth to visit). We received free tickets from owners to go there and lady from 'Cassa grotta' helped us to order taxi - drivers often speak italian only. So the apartment is great, Matera also and owners makes the stay even better. Greetings from Poland!

Location is central however a bit tricky to reach since you can only walk there.

The description is not accurate. The terrace is listed as an hotel facility however it's NOT. It's a room facilities and you only get access if you select certain rooms. Don't get tricked like we have been. The terrace should be REMOVED from hotel facilities. Many reviews will tell you the same. The room without terrace is very dark and small, it was disappointed for us but luckily we stayed only for 1 night. After we reach customer service they told us that the property is not replying to their emails. Really not a great management. When we point that out the owner was pretty rude towards us telling us it was our fault that we did not read things properly. Truth is that I think they keep the description so more customers fell in the trap
