Tout était très bien équipé, il y avait largement plus que le nécessaire ! Je m’y suis sentie très bien pour une nuit et en sécurité. Le système de rangement sécurisé sous le lit avec une clé était un véritable plus. Tout y était très bien pensé. Je recommande pour les femmes qui voyagent solo !

女性限定の宿に泊まったのは初めてでしたが、気軽に声を掛け合えたりして、合宿のようで楽しかったです。正面の壁のアートも素敵でした。

Handy emergency bed (if you are female) if Nikko is fully booked - as it often is! Utsunomiya is a cheap 40 minute train ride from Nikko station (trains once an hour). Individual bed rather than bunk bed (curtain, not door), and plenty of head room. Useful microwave and toaster in entrance, with stools to sit on, galley style. Lovely bathroom and showers. Utsunomiya is a big city, so you can take the chance to stock up on electricals or food you can't get in Nikko.

Self-check in was a muddle, and I have asked Booking.com to ensure that if a hotel is self check-in, this is clearly written on the original description. I would avoid it unless no choice. Instead of staff, they have security cameras! - horrible. It felt as if Big Brother was watching. The hostel was very warm and there was no natural daylight, so I slept badly. Fairly hard mattress, but not the worst. No space for luggage. Difficult to find from the station, but a kind Japanese lady helped me out.
