Some of rules and requirements were a bit over the top.

Good location

Wifi didn’t work at all, mattresses old and not comfy. Towels are for extra ¥300, ¥1000 deposit for room key. You will get 2 bed sheets and a pillow case after check in. So you have to make your bed and as well strip the bed on check out and sort the sheets in bins. Didn’t expect that for that price per night.

Really clean and really comfy bed, hosts very welcoming too! Clearly they work very hard!

Cleanliness

Avoid this hostel if you value basic respect and professionalism! I stayed at Backpacker’s Ino and, while the hostel itself is clean and well-located, my experience with the owner was absolutely horrible. From the moment I checked in to when I checked out, the lady managing the hostel was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. First off, she didn’t explain any of the documents required for check-in, even when I asked for clarification. Instead of offering help, she spoke loudly, acting like I was some sort of trainee and she was a strict instructor, not allowing me to ask simple questions. She even forced me to sign documents with missing information, which is highly risky—especially when I tried to clarify. Her response? She became even more aggressive. When I asked about the kitchen’s usage hours and the burner, she didn’t even try to understand my questions and started shouting at me. On top of that, when I arrived with my heavy luggage and couldn't close the door immediately, she rudely yelled at me to close it. The worst part came during check-out. I asked her to hold my luggage until 3 p.m., as the hostel permits, and she yelled at me again, angrily demanding the key back. I was just trying to clarify my situation, but she was unnecessarily hostile. I didn’t want to make a scene because I was staying there, but I felt completely humiliated. It was as if I hadn’t paid for my stay, and I was just a homeless, relying on their mercy. I absolutely do not recommend this hostel to anyone. There are plenty of other places in Japan that offer clean accommodations and, more importantly, respect for their guests. I’m genuinely disappointed by how I was treated and will never return.
