Property Notes

The Volcano Huts Thorsmork is in a remote location, only accessible by hiking or special busses during 1 May to 30 September. During winter from 1 October to 30 April, transportation by super jeep is required and guests can be picked up from Seljalandsfoss waterfall or Reykjavik. There is a car park at the Seljalandsfoss pick-up point. After booking, please contact the property via e-mail for directions and additional arrival details. Although all rates are quoted in EUR, please note that charges will be made in ISK according to the exchange rate on the day that the charge is made. Bed linen, duvets, pillows and towels are not included. You can rent them on site or bring your own. Please note that the former items are included when booking a room package.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. A deposit may be required at the property.

The rooms have comfortable beds and fluffy blankets - what to wish more after hiking:) There is a very friendly staff and you can buy a great buffet dinner or use a small kitchenette for cooking.

Get ready, that is an old building, so you can hear every step in the corridor and rooms around. Unfortunately, there was not hot water when we were there even though we were said that only one boiler doesn't work. But generally, we had a great stay.

Ideal für einen Wander-Trip in abgelegener Natur. Die Wanderrouten sind top! Die Unterkunft hat alles was notwenig ist. Das Essen ist zwar teuer aber normale Preise für Island (das Buffet ist dafür reichhaltig und gut, Abendessen und Frühstück).

ACHTUNG! Die Anreise erfolgt via Bus oder eigenem Super Jeep. Ein Standard 4x4 Auto reicht nicht aus. Die Bus Preise sind enorm hoch (ca. 50 € / pro Person und Fahrt).

"In tenda circondati dalla natura."

Il contesto è magnifico, isolato, dalla struttura si possono fare diverse belle escursioni nel cuore del Katla Geopark. Il cibo al ristorante non è male, ma volendo c'è anche una cucina comune.

Il sito è molto isolato, raggiungibile solo con Bus 4x4 (circa 1 ora e mezza di viaggio dalla ring road) ad un costo di circa 130 euro a persona, quindi al costo della struttura aggiungete anche il costo per raggiungerla. Non può essere raggiunta con auto 4x4 a meno che non abbiate una grossa jeep e sappiate guidarla per guadare dei tratti di fiume.

"Delightful stay in beautiful Thorsmork"

What a beautiful place with such an amazing community feel. Everyone who worked there went out of their way to help us after getting stuck in the river. The cabins, restaurant, sauna, trails, facilities were all tip top. We can’t wait to go back!
