Este ceva deosebit la aceasta cazare,camerele sunt exceptionale,sapate in piatra in genul pesterilor chiar este o experienta frumoasa sa dormi acolo,iar proprietarul este un adevarat DOMN un om care merita tot respectul si admiratia il felicit pentru modul cum isi trateaza clientii,a fost foarte atent si de mare ajutor pentru noi sa cunoastem orasul si istoria acelui minunat oras Matera.Nota 10 la toate capitolele si cu siguranta vom mai reveni in acest oras si cu siguranta tot in aceasta locatie care este exceptionala din toate punctele de vedere.

There may be other stays in Matera as beautiful as the suites Michele manages, but none would feel the same without him as your host. We never felt like we were staying in an anonymous B&B, but rather in an extension of Michele’s family history and his deep connection to Matera itself. The care he took in restoring these homes using traditional techniques, while thoughtfully incorporating light modern touches such as USB outlets and subtle comforts, made the experience feel authentic without ever feeling overdone or “Disneyfied.” More meaningful than the physical beauty of the homes and the vicinato courtyard is Michele’s genuine love for the history of the area and his willingness to invite guests into that world. We would strongly recommend spending at least two nights — and probably more — exploring this extraordinary place while staying in these beautifully curated homes.

Our stay in Matera was overall enjoyable. The location of the accommodation was really good, situated right on the border between the historic Sassi district and the newer part of the town. This made it extremely convenient to explore both the ancient atmosphere of Matera and the modern city areas on foot. Another great advantage was the availability of an underground parking garage, about a 10 minute walk away, which was very practical when traveling by car. The room itself was a unique experience, as it was built inside an authentic cave, perfectly reflecting the charm and history of Matera. Even though the furnishings were minimalistic, everything was clean, elegant and thoughtfully arranged, creating a very cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Small details such as complimentary tea and snacks were also greatly appreciated and made the stay feel even more welcoming. The host was helpful, and available whenever needed. He is passionate for the history and culture of Matera. He shared many interesting stories, recommendations, and historical insights about the city.

Unfortunately the cave/room was very humid, this aspect needs an improvement, as for us it was quite difficult to sleep and the next morning our clothes were also humid. I do not know if this is a common condition also for the other cave stays. The sink in the bedroom is not really practical, as if you sleep in two guests in the accommodation this may annoy the other person.

Everything

We had a great stay. Everything was very clean, comfortable, and well organized. The staff — especially the owner — were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made us feel at home. We were very happy with the hospitality and overall atmosphere, and we would definitely stay here again.
