Hotel Mumon

Cosy small hotel, the rooms are clean and very warm in winter which was really appreciated. Look a bit all but nice atmosphere and nice service. The owners are always ready to help. The room to store the ski is in the hotel and you can go directly outside.

The onsen can be a bit cleaner. Please notice that there is a lot of mineral called « Yu no Hana » in the onsen bath that looks like dusts, but it’s normal and due to high minerals content of the natural hot spring water

Our family had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mumon over the New Year holiday. Everyone on the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. We loved the Yamato luggage delivery service to send our skis from Haneda airport direct to Mumon, and returned to the airport again at the end of our stay. We especially loved the delicious breakfast every morning -- a perfect start for a day of skiing. We also looked forward to the amazing onsen and heated bed pads to warm us up at the end of the ski day! The rooms were big too and convenient ski storage room. We all loved the local charm and hospitality of this local family-owned hotel.

We did not realize upon booking that rooms with a shared bathroom referred to shared toilets only, without shower stalls. These rooms use the onsen for bathing, and my teenage son was not comfortable. However, the Mumon staff helped us find a solution so he could shower in a private bath for a small fee. We were grateful for this accomodation and all agree we would love to stay at Hotel Mumon again.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is located a short walk to the main road of Akakura, so easy for our ski days.

It is expensive for what it has to offer. It is a clean hotel with super friendly staff, but it is a bit dated, which is no problem but the price should reflect that. We even had to pay extra for breakfast (but it was very good).

Very friendly and helpful 2nd generation family run guest house. A short walk from the main Street in Myoko with lots of night life. Good access to the local ski slopes. All very charming and we would come again. Oh and the rooms were toasty warm too without the gas fires you often get.
