Ashita no Mori

Possibly my favorite stay in 5 weeks of travel throughout Asia. Amazing location with hot springs right out the door, and a wonderfully friendly family running the operation. Food is excellent as well. We stayed for two nights but would have enjoyed at least a couple more.

The washer/dryer was a little frustrating, as the dryer couldn’t properly dry our clothes and we had to then travel with them wet in a bag to our next location.

Beautiful Location by the River. Charming building with onsen. Extremely nice staff.

Perfect location, very nice people, great experience at the river side. Natural onsen experience not to be missed. few min walk from bus station. Food and people were very nice. They accomadated my gluten free requests and helped planning next bus schedule especially for early morning start.

A great little pension accommodation right on the river. You can dig your own hot spring bath here outside, or use the facilities indoors too (private onsen bath, great for couples). It was pretty easy to get here by bus after walking the Kumano Kodo, and was a nice relaxing place to recover from our journey. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was good but I encourage you to look up the difference between "pension", "Ryokan" and "hotel/inn" accommodation styles. This is pension and provides a mix of Japanese and western, mostly comfort food. It was tasty and filling, but don't go expecting a full kaiseki-style experience.

Some of the facilities could do with a bit of maintenance, like one shower wasn't working and the washer was almost inoperable. Overall it was well maintained though. The beds were quite firm as well.

先ず、オーナーと奥様？ と～～～ても好意的で楽しい方 初見にも関わらず、思わず「ただいまっ」って言ってしまいそう お話も魅力的で、ついつい時間を忘れて話し込んじゃう 夕食、ボリューム十分（ハンバーグでしたが、300ｇはあったと思う） 全般やや塩味が濃い目でしたが、大変美味しく大満足 朝食も十分（しっかり） 施設は、案内にも記載されていたが、ぜ～～んぶ ”木” 館内は、食堂兼ダイニング様なホールのみスリッパと言うことでしたが･･･ もったいない！ 足裏から伝わる木の感触は、畳とはまた違って良い 是非楽しんでほしい（冬場は冷たいかな？） 次回は、こちらの訪問を目的にお邪魔したいです

う～～ん、思い当たらない 川湯温泉、温泉の出る川で遊べるので、「要、水着」の案内があると良いかも
