Nam Ou River Lodge

Nong Khiaw is a great place to be, and I wish I had spent more time here. This lodge had a great view of the sunset and a nice picnic table right by the river. Great place to chill. Also very close to town

We wish we coukd have stayed longer. The staff did not speak very good English and was not able to give recommendations on motorbike rental or taxis. This was a small detail though that did not detract from our stay

The toilet was in bed condition they could do with some renovations since the price is definitely too high for what it is. I had ants in the toilet and lots of humidity. The check in was done by a kid with barely no English and no one else around. If you are a solo traveller I do not recommend as you feel very isolated as the location is not so close to the area where the cafes and restaurants are. Also walking back home at night can be a bit scary as you walk down a dark street.

Location. River access to swim after a hike. Not far from the bus station and some very decent restaurants.

Holes in the mosquito net. Reception calculated price using their own exchange rate instead of the current rate. I ended up having to pay a few more hundred kip than what Google said the rate was. The bus ride back to Luang Prabang does not drop you off in the city center, but outside of town near the airport. Be prepared to cough up additional kip for a ride into town. It’s a conspiracy I do not think can be avoided.

I booked a room last minute and was uncertain of what to expect based on some of the other reviews. Nam ou river Lodge turned out to be an excellent choice, the room is spacious and clean, the staff was really friendly as well as always available and the location is ideal. Extended my stay for another night as I really liked the town and the room. Can definitely recommend.

It is true that there are no duvet covers which I would've liked to have but I also never asked for one, so can't say if they provide if you do.

It is a very simple bungalow, without any luxury. If it is what one wants, it is perfect. On the river, decent breakfast.

For us it was a bit too basic. The balcony without awning so much too hot, no decent lights in the room, minimal bathroom. I gave them a good grade because it is a good price for the room.

Conveniently placed between the boat pier and the bus station.

The electricity system in the bathroom scared us a little.

Amazing location right on the river. Great place to sit and just watch the view. Room is comfortable and not just bare walls which is always nice.

Not many staff around and they couldn’t organise laundry. Bathroom a little dated. No duvet cover, just a sheet under the duvet, meaning you had to look at the stained duvet.
