The Jungle View

This is a tough review for me to write because the staff were all very kind and helpful, I can’t emphasise that enough. The location is good, off the main road near the beach front. The name is misleading. It’s far from rural and there’s no view to speak of, especially not of the jungle. When I got to the room it appeared clean and had everything I needed, I was very happy and for the first time on my trip fully unpacked. The first night I slept fine after a long day travelling. The second night I felt something crawl across my face as I was falling asleep. I couldn’t see anything but was that freaked out that I slept with the light on all night. On the third night I got back to the hotel and unfortunately had quite bad sunburn. I went to take a shower and there was a huge cockroach in the bathroom. There is no option to close the window since they installed metal bars to prevent this. Someone kindly came and removed it but I was really put off so locked the door from the outside and didn’t use the bathroom all night. Particularly painful since a cold shower may have helped cool my skin down. I settled down for the evening and then another cockroach crawled across my foot on the bed and got into my bag. Again someone came and kindly removed it. The next morning I got up, told myself I was being silly and went to use the bathroom. There was another cockroach on the floor which was removed. I brushed my teeth and thought I would turn the shower on before standing under it as a precaution. Thank god I did because as I turned the shower on three more cockroaches appeared and crawled along the wall. I decided to pack my things and leave and then spotted a fourth cockroach on the bathroom floor. When I packed the stuff in my room there was yet another cockroach in the bedroom. I appreciate it’s a tropical climate here but I have stayed in 15 hotels so far and not seen a single one.

45min delay for the car we booked through the hotel…

The yoga sessions were very nice, especially since you can do the evening ones for free as a hotel guest. The room was big and the bed was super comfortable. The staff were super friendly and helped you organize tuktuks when needed.

Check in was 2 hours delayed. Mold in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet was not very yummy and small. The laundry is really expensive (more than 6€ for round about 2 kg). No warm water. I think the price charged per night is a little too expensive.

Very nice hotel, free yoga classes! Very friendly staff. Big clean room, quiet, but still close to the beach, the nature surrounding it :D

I was able to expand my stay sponteanously, the second room was smelling a bit moldy (but which room doesnt in sri lanka? 😆)

Comfortable room

No hot water, tea and coffee bad….its SrLanka….why are you serving instant coffee and using tea bags!

Great location; large and clean room amazing food and a very friendly and helpful staff.

In principle the location of the hotel within Mirissa is great as in walking distance to the beach but still in a peaceful environment at the end of a dead end street.

We were the first guests in the newly build second house of the hotel which was still under full construction: from 8.30am till the evening full noise, smell and dust of all construction works ongoing made the stay rather very disappointing for us. No possibility to move into original hotel building as fully booked already and no refund or discount offered. WiFi was also not working.

The staff were friendly, the breakfast food was delicious, and the yoga room was absolutely beautiful with a mix of good teachers. If you're looking to go to the beach to surf and meet nice people, this is a great find.

I do feel the yoga should be included in the price as it feels like the main selling point of the property. The price felt a little steep otherwise as the property is lovely, although outside of the yoga room, the facilities are limited.
