Snuggle Cottage

Dulakshi and her mother are wonderful hosts. Their breakfasts are the best we have had in Sri Lanka! The cottage is very comfortable and tidy and is an easy 10 minute walk along the railway tracks to Ella Village. A great stay and great value for money. I highly recommend Snuggle Cottage

Everything about this property is a lie and I would not recommend anyone to go here! There is nothing at all that I liked about this property except that it has a view of some waterfall and it is near the train tracks but not at all worth the effort, money and the mental harassment I faced at this property.

Firstly everything about this property is a lie - nothing at all is the truth. Every minute we just got more and more shocked. 1. This property says it is on the ground floor, but it is not. It is in fact even higher than 3rd floor, and one has to climb stairs so if you have a knee issue, like my old parents did, then good luck 2. They sent me a vague map to reach the property but the road that is going from the main road is so scary. i was driving an SUV but was scared that will my car fall off the cliff, it is that tiny. You keep going on through that road and then come across a super steep drop and at the bottom of it, the host says - ok park here now. When asked where is the property , she casually says oh it is much ahead but you have to walk by foot (Atleast 800m + stairs). 3. The room is the only room there and oh my god - it is the shabbiest thing I have seen. There is construction material lying all around, the washroom has no facilities (refer photos) and overall very uncomfortable. 4. The washroom has no facilities, no hot water, infact barely any water to even wash face. insects are all around. and nothing, not even basic toiletries are provided. Broken toilet paper thing. 5. Repeat - there is no private parking; they ask you to park in the middle of a jungle, in the middle of nowhere making it extremely unsafe. However for us, it was even worse - when we reached there was a car and an auto parked on both sides of that path and when we said can you ask the car or auto to park properly, so we can take our car out in the morning (as we had to leave early), the host made no efforts at all and kept smiling - shes a very young girl. Then she called her neighbor (btw whose hotel looks so much better ), and long story short - we not only faced the most racial discrimination, 2 hours of on-road harassment /,misbehavior/ them laughing at our misery; Also we got so exhausted we didnt have energy to go out and lost on our evening in Ella.

Hosts could not have been more accommodating. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were carefully prepared by Dulakshi's mother. Each meal we were able to try different types of sri lankan food. The view from the balcony was delightful (there are a lot of steps, which was fine for us). There are plenty of walking opportunities from Snuggle Cottage).

Maybe the shower pressure could be improved.

The space was very nice with a big comfy bed, polished concrete floor and view of the waterfall. The hosts were very helpful regarding activities in the area. It was an easy walk to town along the train line. The breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we have had in Sri Lanka.

There was not was water pressure in the shower but that seems to be a common problem in the accommodation in Ella. The view was slightly inhibited by the neighbouring roof.

Very nice host very welcoming and attentive. Great view in a calm area easily reached on foot by railtracks. We asked for breakfast and it was delicious! Green, full of birds, we rested nicely. Thank you!!

Not to stay longer ; )

This place was awesome! The family who hosted us were incredibly beautiful, they were so accommodating and always ready to answer any questions but also gave us our space when we wanted it. The room was beautiful! Clean, comfortable. Only had a fan but it was never too hot and we actually slept with a duvet so it was really great! Super comfy bed, honestly have zero complaints. Also loved that we were a 10 minute walk down the train tracks to the city centre. Super easy to get to and if we were really tired it was a 600rp Tuk Tuk back to the accommodation.

Nothing! We loved this place soooo much! Not a complaint from us but if you have bad knees or something there’s like 15 steps up to the accommodation from the road so would be hard if you can’t walk great

It was a little bit smelly in the beginning, the room wasn’t used recently. After a day/two it was fine.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Snuggle Cottage. The location is great, with a fabulous view of the waterfall from the balcony and a 10 minute walk along the railway tracks into the centre. The breakfast is probably the best we've eaten in Sri Lanka and in general the gentle kindness of our hosts was truly heartwarming. Our two children were taken in particular with their very friendly cat and dog. I would absolutely recommend this guesthouse to anyone staying in Ella.

Best view on mountains and waterfall. Hosts were truly wonderful - the owners were the nicest people, really helpful and caring, they prepare delicious breakfasts and overall they take care of you, so that you would not get lost on trails or you would reach your next destination safely.
