Thatched Villa

Although not beach front, it is one of the closest places to Silent Beach if you dont count the large luxury hotel at the beach. The people working here are extremely kind and helpful! They helped us organize a nice kayak trip at the nearby lagoon and we had our best meal in our whole Sri Lanka trip in their small restaurant.

The room was a bit dark and moist, and can be a bit warm since there was only fans, not AC in the family room. The hotels sunbeds at the beach are not actually included but instead are paid (although discounted) for at the beach every day

Very close to the stunning beach. We stayed up the hill at the premises where it was very quiet but fun with monkeys and peacocks. Access to new kitchen facility (for extra payment). Very cosy with plants, two rooms and terasses.

Small rooms and no AC, and it got really really hot at night. One of the fans was not working properly.

Great location near the beach. The room is small and dark, wet and hot. The AC didn't work properly, was too cold and the remote control didn't function as it should be. It was noisy as the restaurant is nearby, , the host dogs didn't let us leave the room at 6 a.m, they barked and tried to attack us, you can't go to the beach until hosts wake up and take away their dogs. There was no soap. In total it's a good accommodation for backpackers or for 1-2 nights just because of the wonderful beach that's 5 minutes walk from it.

Very nice facilities, restaurant was very good, and the nearby Secret Beach is wonderful

I love the simplicity of the accommodation, its basic but clean and comfortable. Near to the beach and good restaurant.

It was like being in the forest , in cabins

Clean and well equiped rooms with nice veranda at the front. A lot of different wild animals coming very close. We admired the peacocks, monkeys, squirrels and colourful birds around. Just about 2 minutes walk to the silent beach. Very nice and helpful staff and delicious cuisine prepared by the owner family.

The path to the bungalow became slippery after the rain.

Amazing location. Breakfast was very good.

Poor, infrequent Wi-Fi connection. Services such as tuk-tuk and scooter rent weren’t offered until we said we had hired elsewhere. Then we were laughed at for the price we told them we’d agreed. We felt quite hassled to use their free sun loungers, preferring to use those of the bar (Heaven on Earth) where we could also get food and drinks.

Delicious home-style cooking, great location and the friendliest, most hospitable hosts. Milton catered for us on their included daybeds at the beach and the family helped us immensely to visit surrounding sites and transport to our next location. The rooms were clean and well equipped with good WIFI. The restaurant area was cosy and vibrant. Marisi’s cooking was some of the best we had in Sri Lanka and the quality of their food is of much better standard than other restaurants in the area. The hosts were also really attentive to any of our requests. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend Thatched Villa to anyone visiting the Tangalle region.
