Do not trust the fairly good ratings like we did. This stay particularly ruined our conception of stay homes and placing trust in the ratings. To start, we had two rooms booked - one triple room with balcony and one delux room with balcony. Upon arriving, I noticed we were given the wrong double room type which the host did not and would not have mentioned if I did not notice. The host said there were multiple bookings for the same room and it just happened which is absurd. When we told about the room we wanted, he said there was nothing to do now and that we could leave if we wanted. His behaviour and a lady beside him (I guess his mother) was completely unprofessional without any remorse or apology and they also did not know how to talk. We wanted to immediately cancel but he also imposed on charging us the fees of the first night even if we left. So we stayed out of no choice and paid the reservation amount in cash (they don't accept card and provided no reciept). Moreover, the bathroom door latch of both rooms were broken to which he said he will try to fix that day (but never did during the entire 2 days we stated. Nor did he bother). The stairs leading to the 2nd floor of this place has foul smell and it seemes like the washroom pipeline was somehow connected there which was pretty disgusting. They also don't have generator btw. Major reason to not stay there! Last but not the least, we left at night and saw in the morning he reported we never checked in lol. Should have kept a reciept. Luckily, we have pictured and videos of staying there. Overall, a joke of a place.

Super nette Gastgeber, konnten bei allen Anliegen behilflich sein. Zimmer sehr sauber und ausreichend ausgestattet. Definitiv zu empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder! :-)

The position

Old room with moldy walls and lots of humidity

I stayed there for a relatively long period during my time in Sri Lanka, and I even came back for my last week and stayed for another full week. The staff is a one big family, and while I was there, I truly felt like part of it. The rooms are great and comfortable, the staff are amazing and helped me with so many things, and the location is totally fine and convenient. The hotel owner (Vasu) also offers transportation services. ❤️

The owner's mother and their family members were really good and we appreciated their welcoming attitude for new guests.

- The photos listed for the room in booking.com are different from the actual ones. - There is no power-backup or inverter connection for the rooms. We missed our early morning bus to Ella as there was no power supply and we could prepare ourselves on time. - This property could be referred to as a lodge and not a homestay or hotel. It is disconnected from the owner's common areas as there was no place to dine, prepare our food. Usually homestays offer some access to common utilities such as washing machine, coffee-maker, dining table. - The property rooms have their small refrigerator, bowls, cutlery were provided to us by the owner on request, electric kettle was also provided. The owner is good and is looking forward to improve. - The rooms are very close to each and this may create some problems as someone tried to get into our room on the first night which was concerning to me as I was with my wife. I had informed the same to the owner, he should install another camera for covering the length of that corridor for guest safety. - The bathroom doors could not be closed for the whole two days due to faulty installation is a spoiler. - Overall the property is at a fair distance from the road and is opposite to the beach but is at some distance from the main activity area. - The property owner is very friendly is keen to provide additional services. - I think this place needs a few improvements to make really a comfortable accomodation in the future.
