Dar Seffarine

Dar Seffarine is just as beautiful as we had been told to expect! A lovely guesthouse — so grand and elegant in appearance but otherwise relatively minimal in terms of bells and whistles, and at times we almost felt we were at home with the whole place to ourselves. Dinner was indeed fantastic, and no doubt better than many of the other restaurants in Fes. It was quiet during our stay in late November and there was only one other couple dining that night, so it was almost like dining at home — but with excellent cooks bringing us a gorgeous (elegant but not 'fancy’) Moroccan feast. We have family members who had stayed here 10+ years ago and raved about the magnificent breakfasts they enjoyed, so we were a bit underwhelmed by the pleasant but simple breakfast we had, but perhaps our expectations were unreasonably high. One extra special note is that the lovely staff organised a driver pickup from the train station on arrival and a taxi to the airport for our very early departure, both of whom met us/took us right to the door of the Dar — I would definitely recommend this, as it’s difficult to locate deep in the Medina, particularly the first time and with luggage, or early in the morning when many of the gates/doors are closed! Even better was the day we spent with our guide Arabi, arranged in advance through the Dar. We had originally planned for a 3-hour tour and ended up extending for a few more hours, since he was such good company and so helpful in exploring the city.

Not a negative, but worth noting that the location is quite tricky to access — during the day the Medina is very busy, and then in the evening many parts are closed off/Dar Seffarine is nestled far away from some of the cafes, restaurants or other riads you may be visiting for dinner, so although it’s nice and quiet at night it can be difficult to navigate your way back home. Not a problem if you’re up for the challenge, but worth being aware of!

把菲斯的老房子保留得挺好的，修舊為舊還是很漂亮的。有一晚訂了酒店的晚餐，吃完之後還有屋主來分享很多當初裝修房子的事情還有當地的文化，還挺有意思的。晚餐和早餐都不錯。

可能也是老房子的局限問題，有以下幾點想分享給想訂這個民宿的人參考下： 1.我們住的是最底下的房間，房間裡一直會聞到廁所管道的臭味 2. 我們的床後面就是街道，一直有車經過會很吵 3. 洗手間+淋浴間很小，幾乎沒有放洗漱用品的位置，而且廁所門也不太能關起來 4. 房間門是沒有鎖的，吃飯的時候聽到有住客用英文跟同伴說下午趁著打掃房間房門開著的時候進去過我們的房間，還好我們也沒放什麼貴重物品，可有種任何人都能進去你房間的感覺不是很好 5. 到了民宿附近的停車場也不能安排職員來接我們，反而建議我們找停車場那些人付費帶我們進去感覺不是太好

Old building. Full of charm. Dinner was delicious a must eat at the property.

Should provide nice soap and shampoo or body wash. Very basic toiletries.

What a beautiful place to stay; so atmospheric. We had the most amazing time. Special mention regarding the quality of the meal taken at the banqueting table in the heart of the Riad. The 360° views from the terrace were fantastic; we enjoyed both sunrise and sunset.

Shame about the bed and bedding which impacted on sleep quality.

Amazing architecture and story behind the building, spectacular panorama from the rooftop terrace. Our host, Kate, has been amazing, helped us in organizing restaurants, a tourguide and our transfer to the train station .

Hard to find it without help for the first time
