Brisk Ella Retreat

The view is amazing, the staff is extremely kind and helpful with everything. They arranged a tuktuk day tour in Ella. The location is a bit far from the city center but you can always ask the guys to arrange a ride. The room is comfortable. The place is really close to a beautiful monastery.

Getting to the destination was a mission.It would have been better if we took a tuk tuk because our low car bumper was damaged on the way.Getting there - the owner wasn’t too happy that i wanted to go on having dinner in the city .He insisted that i have dinner there .It is very far from the city - for solo travellers who are extroverted its a no.Its not modern : Very basic , hot water came out after 30minutes of running the tap , next morning there was no hot water . Toilet seat was broken ,no remorse whatsoever from the team .Payments only cash , no swipe machine. I was just disappointed and will not be booking there again.

Very far away from Ella, noisy due to many buses and tuktuks going to temple on top of mountain, especially in weekend, it starts early and goes on until late and makes transport into Ella difficult. This is a definite problem for the hotel and apparently started this year. Payment by cash, no working card machine despite booking rooms online. Did not inform us until we were leaving. Luckily we had enough cash, otherwise a long drive back and forth to Ella to go to ATM. Only one staff speak English. They did not clean room. They came over 45 minutes late for our prebooked pickup at railway station.

Breathtaking views! Food was tasty. Owner and the staff were remarkably supportive. Stay was awesome ! ❤️

Only Sun rise and good position..

It wasn’t realy good experience to ella town 30mins ride, road was crap to get there…

Excellent Sunrise! No need to get on the balcony, you can view it from your bed. The room was equipped with all basic facilities. Staff was extremely hospitable and friendly, made sure our stay was comfortable. Breakfast was good, included some srilankan dishes

Location is too high up on a hill, you need to either get your vehicle or stay up there once you check in. Also this is a low budget remote hotel, please dont have high expectations like hot water, AC, Iron, sanitaries etc. you get what you pay for :)

The view is world class - i booked a room with hammock & I've would say it is one of the best sunrises I've experienced yet. You can hear the monks chanting through-out the mountains in the morning. It is close to the Buddhist Temple too which is so beautiful & worth a visit. The breakfast was huge too - maybe a little too big haha.

It was a little out of Ella & as a solo traveler was too isolating unfortunately as i wanted to socialize. It is very basic but very clean. The staff were very lovely. It is so worth it for the sunrise! The staff can arrange any transport to Ella centre & are very helpful but it is basic. Would stay again just for the views.
