Brisk Ella Retreat

Gorgeous! A little out of the way but worth it for the amazing view when you get there! The room was amazing, staff were friendly and helped us organise everything we needed. Breakfast was also great!

Amazing sunrise.

The place is not what you see in photos. Not clean, lot of bugs, water pressure in the shower was terrible!

⸻ We stayed at this hotel in Ella and were captivated by the breathtaking view from our room—especially at sunrise over the mountains. The room was clean and comfortable, and despite its somewhat secluded location, the serene setting truly enhanced our experience. Unfortunately, the service did not meet our expectations. On two occasions, we had to wait over 30 minutes for breakfast, even though we had kindly informed the staff in advance that we had booked activities and couldn’t afford to be late. This delay set us back for the rest of the day. While our check-in at 5 PM was understandable since the room wasn’t ready at our arrival, our checkout process was less forgiving. We were required to vacate the room by 11 AM under the threat of additional charges, despite already experiencing delays caused by the late breakfast service. After explanation to the owner of the property who has been understanding we could finally process to the check out at 13:00 Overall, the hotel offers an outstanding view and a peaceful atmosphere,( just noise of the road during the day )but the service standards need significant improvement.

Bad experience started from the first because the hotel isnt on ella road or kumbalwella like it says on google map or booking.com; its on mahaneva road which is very far away. Takes 1500rupees from ella town at least. On the first day while checking in they took a lot of time although i checked in at 6pm on that day. The next day breakfast was supposed to be served at 7:30-8AM but the staff were sleeping and didnt even get a discount for that. Very inexperienced and unprofessional staff. Monkeys will come to your room in the morning which is not a problem but the staff didnt aware me so i lost a book and a pair of shorts which i had laying around the balcony when i left. The amenities were beyond basic, doesnt justify the price at all. The only good thing is the view. It is grossly overpriced. First day room was full of insects, even after the staff took nearly 30mins to get the room ready.
