The Whare Rural Retreat

Breakfast was not requested or provided, so can't comment on that. Location was excellent in that the host provided us with a car to go out for dinner in Havelock North, as we were on a bike holiday. The private deck was lovely for breakfast. Our host, Matthew was very helpful, and provided a secure place to store our bikes overnight.

Whilst the bathroom facilities were adequate, and the shower lovely, there was very little room in the bathroom unit to dry oneself. Both the bathroom and the kitchen were in an attached caravan unit.

Unique accommodation and perfect for what I needed

Great Price and somewhere quite different to stay than a hotel. Lovely host.

It was a unique experience, far more interesting than a standard motel. I felt very relaxed in the old Whare. It was clean and tidy and our host, Matthew was delightful, he gave us freshly pressed apple juice and as many apples as we wanted. I would definitely stay again.

The kitchen in the caravan was fine but the bathroom was a bit cramped and care was needed on the steps.

We stayed in a unique traditional "whare" (house). We felt very comfortable, and Di and Matthew (the hosts) were lovely! The bathroom and kitchen were outside, but it was not a problem at all for us. The kitchen had all we needed to cook with. There is also the option to wash clothes if needed.
