Maykenn Beach-Cafe Bar and Restaurant

The hotel is clean, private and comfortable and the staff were friendly.. the neighborhood was friendly and it was easy to rent motorbikes and bicycles and organise a trike

The bathroom was a bit dated

This "hotel" is a rebuilt two-storey house in the worst part of the island. There are no tourists, hotels, restaurants, beaches, there are only houses of local residents with their own specifics. You need to drive 20 minutes to the nearest beach. On that side of the island there are only dumps, stench and mud. When I arrived, I was offered to wait "on the beach" while the room was ready. The beach is a 20 meter wide part of the coast cleared of debris. The water was dirty, garbage, algae, oil stains from fuel were floating. To the right and left were only boats in the water and trash on the shore. There were several people sitting on the "beach," and I also saw the horror on their faces.. I booked a room «beach front 1 king bed». The proposed room was a servants' room, with a second door leading to a large room "for the masters." This room is located under the stairs, on a common veranda, with a small window with a grill in the door. We were horrified by what we saw. The proposed room had 2 beds and almost no available space. We specified discrepancy between our order and the proposed room. The hostess is an unpleasant woman, tried to prove to me that a room with one King bed (which was ordered) is the same as with two beds. She refused to cancel the reservation. I reported this problem to the booking.com. I left (as agreed with the booking.com) and found another hotel on the beach and paid less than Maykenn Beach. I booked here and paid 450 euros for 5 days stay and did not live one minute. But Booking.com did not return anything at all and took the side of the hotel in the dispute (it is clear why). Reservations at this hotel are non-refundable. This explains everything. A person in their right mind will not stay here if there is an opportunity to return the payment. P. S. I see fake purchased reviews. But there can not like anything. Any $12 hostel on the other side of the island would be a better bet.

The staff and owner are very kind and the food is good. The staff is super friendly.

The hidden fees and hidden greed. I wonder about the need for hidden service fees not written in the room book of instructions. We were charged a service charge for each item purchased. For example, when eating at the restaurant (delicious food) we were charged a service charge for each water, the rice, the fish and the meat. We were charged a service charge to book a boat and then again also to pack a lunch for us for the same boat. The people are nice but this level of hidden charge and greed is too much. We rented a motorcycle and they charged us for normal wear and tear- for example, small scratches under the bike- but they reside on a gravel, rocky road and recommended a bike to get to Paradise beach- all dirt and rocks. Maybe don’t recommend we rent a motorcycle if you are going to charge us for riding on a dirt road. All motorcycles have scratches under the bike in this terrain. I would recommend reading the rules in my photos and choosing excursions, meals and transportation away from her accommodations. The price point doesn’t meet normal Filipino standards in my opinion, which makes me question the greed component. Maybe greed is their motivator?

The ambience is good, it's very relaxing, the staff are really accommodating. The area is very well maintened. You can easily rent a bike directly in the hotel.

It's a bit far from the town. You need a bike or a tricycle to go to the town proper, to access restaurants, bar, etc...

This is a very nice place. Private little beach. The room was modern and clean. The restaurant had very good breakfast and menu items. Short walk to the road for a trike to town. 10 minutes from town and ferry. 20 minutes to the airport. Pay a little more for a peaceful beach view.

Staff was very attentive and helpful for everything we needed. Courtyard and restaurant were spotless and clean. Food was good

We had issues with our toilet from the first day. The seat came off and it would not automatically fill up to flush. But the staff fixed the toilet seat right away. And I used the bidet to fill up the tank to flush. Not a big deal. It also smelled heavily of cigarettes one night. I’m not sure if it was from our neighbors but it was very unpleasant.

Right on the beach, quiet clean, good food, nice bar and restaurant. Accommodating Staff, Nice place, i would book again. Do your self a favor and rent a scooter and visit paradise beach, secluded and amazingly beautiful.

Beach is closed at 10 pm. But that is so it can be closed for night time security. Even though I felt very safe in the area and even walking the neighborhood. The restaurant is outdoors so if it was extremely hot out for me it would be uncomfortable. But any restaurant I came across in town is open outdoors also with no air con. It's quite common in the Philippines, that's why i visit in the winter months.

Very nice & clean. Staff were really nice.

Beach at the moment was low tide until afternoon.
