The breakfast was amazing. Cooked perfectly every day. We ate all our meals on property and could taste the passion for cooking in every dish. Top rated ingredients. Went away completely satisfied after every meal.

Expensive food, can’t bring food from outside, they tried to charge us for pillows and blanket for the other bed even though we paid for 2 king beds and the location is far from everything.

Fined P2.000.00 Pesos for using beach towel. We stayed for 8 nights, spent money in the restaurant and on drinks. On check-out; we had been fined P2,000.00 (£30.00) for using our beach towels whilst visiting Virgin Island and visiting other beaches on Bantyan Island on two days only. We were later informed if we had booked excursion through hotel and paid a higher fee, we could have used their towels! Other guests were apparently fined for drinking beer on their balcony, which was purchased outside (they also refused to pay)!! On check out, agreed to pay for the additional nights, food & drinks but refused to pay the fine. My offer was not accepted so we left the hotel without paying anything. We were manhandled by security staff & locals and they tried to take our luggage. We asked them to call the Police, they wouldn’t. Anyway, after 30 minutes they agreed not fine us and we paid our invoice. This was not a good experience as we were going to return for 8 nights after our two month vacation and now we will stay elsewhere. Good & Bad Points: The owners are very kind and when I was ill, the lady took me to hospital. I was very grateful, unfortunately when she left the island for Cebu City, the Assistant Manager took charge, and he didn’t know how to treat guests correctly. Staff: Everyone helpful and wonderful, thank you. Overall: we enjoyed our stay but the owners must value their customers by providing beach towels when visiting the islands (happy to pay deposit), provide mini safe in each room, cushions on sun-beds and drop 6% service charge on food & drinks. No one else charges this amount. Recommendation: If you are happy with the above arrangements, definitely stay and I am sure you will have a great holiday. The staff are locals, all wonderful and deserve your business.

A warm and courteous welcome awaits travellers to the Maykenn Beach Resort. The food is exceptional, on a three night stay my wife and I were served freshly prepared evening meals not only based on local cuisine but also that of Thailand, China, Italy and even Sweden ! Breakfasts were also of a high standard again providing a wide range of options. Rooms are spacious and well appointed with quality bathroom fittings and a good shower. The private beach is kept pristine by daily beach combing, although it has to be said that early in the year the adjacent coastline suffers from seaweed and plastic debris brought in by the prevailing currents. At low tide the extensive tidal lagoons and sand bars provide for a great recreation, just strolling in crystal clear warm waters through meadows of sea grass, looking for exotic sea shells or watching the antics of the tiny blue sand crabs. If you are looking for a small quiet “out of town” retreat on Bantayan, with friendly staff look no further than the Maykenn Beach Resort. PS for a whistle stop tour of other delights on Bantayan the road tour is not to be missed.
