Ama Eco Lodge

- Banda is an outstanding host. He made us feel at home and was really helpful at any stage of our stay - food was amazing and really generous, all cooked by Banda’s mum - the lodge is very well crafted with an open bathroom, a terrasse in the middle of a beautiful garden and a balcony from where you can spot monkeys or tucanos - location is a bit remote and close to a lake. We really enjoyed the peaceful and natury vibe of the place

Nothing we enjoyed it a lot

The room is beautiful, and the garden outside looks like you are in the middle of the jungle. The breakfast is everyday different with a lot of local dishes. The owner is really friendly and we enjoyed having conversations with him :)

No AC and the place was really hot, but luckily there is the fan. The mosquitos outside during evening time are a lot so make sure to close the door (even in the bathroom) if you don’t want to get bite all night long :’)

Wow! Such beautiful accomodation in the most magical setting. Our stay at Ama Eco Lodge was nothing short of amazing. Banda, our host, and his wife were so kind and helpful— organising tuk tuk’s, showing us local spots and cooking us the most delicious Sri Lankan breakfasts each morning. It is perfectly located to explore Lion’s Rock and the Dambulla Cave Temple. The accommodation itself was heavenly. The outdoor bathroom has a beautiful shower and big tub— perfect for cool baths under the palm trees after a long day of exploring. The patio out front, where meals are served, is surrounded by lush plants and trees of every kind! This meant lots of wildlife coming to visit, even a toucan!

Owner was very accommodative n very soft spoken. Served us with welcome drink. Breakfast was a huge portion. Bathroom was super huge, super clean n so beautiful.

Afternoon was a little hot n humid, only had fan. Bathroom bathtab no hot water.

Great place! We had booked two nights and wanted to extend! This place is so beautiful! If you are looking for a place to recharge, I would recommend this place. This unique complex has one room, so you will enjoy an exclusive experience. The bathroom is amazing and the room super clean. The location is perfect and the garden beautiful. The owner is super nice, a.o. he prepared last-minute a diner, he saw that I was tired after a trip and gave us a juice and he gave a wonderfull night tour, all without expacting anything in return.

The accommodation was a dream. we have never felt so comfortable there. The price-performance ratio is unbeatable and the host was so friendly, helpful and courteous and has a very big heart. We can absolutely recommend this accommodation to everyone. We really enjoyed the exchange and the talks and would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Bandha and his family. This place is unique!!! Not only the location is peaceful and quiet but the family who runs it is simply adorable. They made our stay so comfortable and unforgettable!! Banda is such a great host, he's very attentive and helpful. Always ready to offer whatever U need and with a big smile in his face 🙂 he took us to watch the sunrise at Pidurangala Rock, helped us to organise a Safari tour to see the elephants at Hurulu Eco Park, got us an appointment for a massage and drove us there, found us a place to exchange money and even dropped us at the bus station the day we left, not before making sure that we saw the Golden Temple at Dambulla and waited for us. Breakfast are delicious and made with love, we could feel in every gesture that they are happy when guests are happy. As happy as I was with the coconut curry and the majestic outdoor bath 😄 Absolutely fantastic!! On top of this I was having my bday while there and they prepared me a surprise party with balloons, flowers, a cake with my name on it and they even put in my head a leaf crown made by them. This was simply unexpected and U guys made my day as one I will never forget!! Thanks for dancing and celebrating with me, U are beautiful people inside out! I've travelled a lot in my life and from the bottom of my heart, I've never found a place like this so I totally recommend it to everyone (plus there is a lake just 2 min walking where U can enjoy the sunset and see lots of fireflies at night) Thanks again for everything Banda & family, U are angels! 💙

This place is a Garden of Eden! It is so beautifully built, so comfortable and quiet, that it had become one of my most favorite places in the world! The host is sooo helpful and friendly, like I have never experienced it anywhere else before. He arranged everything we needed, helped when our TukTuk broke down and even drove us around for free, when we didn’t feel safe enough to drive ourselves (at night time there were wild elephants on the road). There was even a huge male elephant passing by one night and Banda (the host) called us to see it. The bed is super comfortable and in the morning we were woken either by the wonderful singing of birds or the two Tucans that visit the balcony on the upper floor every other day and knock on the glass. Behind the house (2min walking distance) is a beautiful lake where you can swim, watch the sunset and at night time see an enormous amount of blinking fireflies in the surrounding trees. The garden surrounding the house gives you a feeling of sleeping in the middle of the jungle and the sounds of the many birds bring this idyllic paradise to completion. Breakfast was so good every day and we absolutely recommend having also lunch and dinner here, as it was the best cooking we tasted in whole Sigiriya and also by far the cheapest. You can ask for special wishes of what you want to eat and they will prepare it exactly as you like (in huge amounts). An absolute highlight was the open air bathroom 🤩 I would give full 10 Stars if possible and I definitely will come back here whenever I am near Sigiriya 😃
