Sigiri Rangana Guesthouse

We had an amazing stay! The place was spotless, and everything was perfectly clean and well-maintained. The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel at home right away. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We highly recommend this place and would love to come back again!

During my stay in Sri Lanka, I was lucky to stay with many wonderful families, but this one definitely touched me in a special way. The room was clean and spacious, and while the location is a bit far from Sigiriya and Pidurangala, the family rented me a motorbike that was in the best condition of all the ones I rented in Sri Lanka. If you don’t want to rent a motorbike, they also provide tuk-tuk services. The hostess always served us tea or coffee with snacks in the afternoon and prepared the best curry I had in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All of this would already be enough to give the stay a 10/10, but the best part was the conversations I had with the two hostesses. They are so sweet and shared a bit about their customs and what it’s like to live in Sri Lanka, both in the past and present. They were also very curious about my culture and family, and it was wonderful to exchange stories with them! Even with the language barrier, we understood each other perfectly. Thank you for all the care and kindness!

The host family was very kind and welcomed us with warm tea. The accommodation is surrounded by nature, with a beautiful garden and adorable children. Everyone was extremely friendly and full of hospitality. Although I couldn’t finish the breakfast due to my gluten allergy, the grandmother kindly made pancakes for us, and I was grateful for the thoughtfulness. Despite the challenges, they helped us arrange an early morning jeep tour to see elephants and assisted with entry to Sigiriya Rock, even on short notice.

Unfortunately, the room we were given had no windows or ventilation, and the strong chemical fragrance from the air freshener was overwhelming, causing us to cough non-stop. Despite paying the equivalent of a one-night stay at a 4-star hotel for two nights, we had to leave after the first night and move to another hotel we arranged at the last minute. It was truly disappointing that, despite being in such a wonderful natural environment, we couldn’t enjoy the fresh scents of the surrounding trees and plants. The coughing continued for several days afterward. Additionally, the room's size was not 258 square meters as advertised but actually 25.8 square meters. The shower only provided cold water.

Very happy with the big room and nice shower with hot water. The room has a quiet fan and is very spacious. The internet was working fine. The lady that manages the homestay is a great cook, we ate very good food. Enjoyed the dinner and breakfast every night. She also helped us plan and discover Sirigiya. I would recommend everyone to stay here, as you’ll feel the warmth and love like at home. We would definitely go back there!

The accommodation is a few minutes out of the town. Quiet. Lovely family. The food was delicious. A memorable experience.

Not something that has to be a downside but the "tours" offered were a bit expensive (e.g. 2500 for Tuktuk ride from and to Sigurya / Pidurangala Rock in the morning / evening). I guess it's the drivers price and not the hosts but if you want to save money you can organize your own ride for almost half
