The toilet broke in the middle of the night but they switched me to another room in the morning

Management is super friendly and helpful. Location is walking distance to numerous restaurants and pretty much any shopping needs you might have. Working hot water in the shower. The street on which this place is located looks rough, but didn't strike me as being unsafe for walking around.

Extremely noisy location, even with earplugs sleeping was challenging. While I was there the street noise was quite loud until 10:30-11pm and started up again by 6am. The room was uncomfortably hot, there was no fan and if you opted to keep your window open after dark to get some air, you also got some bugs as there was no screen for the window. Despite being a very budget friendly option, the negatives might outweigh the savings for some (including myself).

The hostel/hotel felt secure, but we probably wouldn't want to put it to the test. The staff were friendly enough and provided extra toiletries when we needed them. Wifi/internet/network was good in the room, and Netflix was available on the TV. The room was warm, but a decent fan was provided (a bit too noisy to have the large window open at night). The bedroom had a wall light over the bed in addition to 2 ceiling lights, but overall, the coverage was poor. The bathroom had an electric shower, so hot water at all times. Hooks were available in the bedroom for coats and bathroom for towels. A small cupboard available for storage, and a small table and chairs.

The basic accommodation was to the north of the centre (about 15 minute walk) off an unsurfaced road that created a permanent dirty/dusty feel to the place (not their fault, they were constantly trying to clean the place but were battling against the odds. There were a couple of flights of stairs to reception, then more to our room with no lift. The stairs were dark until the movement sensors triggered the lights. No kitchen available, or breakfast provided. No bins in the bedroom (only in bathroom) but there were bins outside on the stairs but no evidence of recycling, although one bin was labelled 'organic'. The table and chairs were a bit rattly and we found one of the numerous missing bolts on the floor. We certainly didn't want to put much weight on the chairs.

The staff was unbelievably helpful. Friendly, helped with transport... The room was basic - I arrived on an early flight from Lima and wanted a shower and a nap before taking a late bus. Perfect!
