Simply one of the best hotel/guest houses I have stayed in my life. An incredible historic building interior, peaceful and remote from the bright sunshine outside, decorated like a royal palace, with as many stunning communal living rooms and lounges as there are guest rooms, dressed in incredible textiles and classic armchairs and side tables. Comfortable, richly furnished with antiques and art, it is like stepping back in time with the opulence of a stately home and many quiet, coy spaces to read or relax in a slice of history. The bedrooms are large and freshly decorated with deep comfortable beds and huge pillows, antique cupboards, a spacious bathroom and regular daily cleaning. Duarte and Lisa were amazing hosts. Duarte took time to introduce me to all of the house and make me feel really welcome and both he and Lisa provided a fantastic breakfast each day in their equally impressive dining room, a selection of breads and marmalades, freshly cooked eggs, freshly squeezed Orange juice, taken on antique furniture in front of a roaring fire. I did not try the terrace or the swimming pool due to the time of year, but it is truly a safe, welcoming house where it is relaxing to spend a quiet morning or evening simply enjoying the tranquility of the impressive common areas and furnishings. Outside the house, Elvas is a stunning fortified city, always bathed in sunshine, with friendly locals and steep, sleepy lanes or walks outside the town walls. The castle is a short walk up from the house and it is just far enough from the centre to be quiet but with restaurants a walk away. I was lucky to come in the off season when I rarely saw another person even for several days and felt like I was living in my own historic palace, and slept as well as in any place I have ever stayed.

Preparei-me neste hotel para a preparação para o meu dia de casamento. E a verdade é que não podia ter escolhido melhor sítio para mim. Assim que vi este hotel foi amor à primeira vista. Não podia ter pedido e ter tido melhor sítio para me preparar . O staff foi incrivelmente excepcional sobre tudo. Foi fantástico tudo. Ajudaram-me em tudo e nada era um esforço para eles. Ainda estou sem palavras por conseguir traduzir a minha maior gratidão por vocês ( Catarina e senhora Governanta ao qual não me lembro do nome-desculpe!) Foi tudo tão perfeito, tao mágico e tao lindo e tudo graças ao trabalho e empenho feito como o espaço em si !

Veldig spesielt sted som er et fint renovert, eldre hus. Mange, fine detaljer er tatt vare på. Frokosten blir servert ved bordet og det er gode produkter. Du kan bestille mer av alt og også andre ting enn de som kommer først. Hyggelig og serviceorienterte medarbeidere. WiFi er meget raskt og med godt signal. De har en egen "ærlighets-bar" med godt utvalg der en kan forsyne seg å notere forbruket. Vi hadde rommet St. Lucia og det har det største badet vi noen gang har hatt. Rommet er også stort, med gode senger og to stoler å sitte i. Du bør oppgi ankomsttidspunkt slik at de får tatt imot deg. Det er ingen resepsjon der.

Hotellet kommer opp når det søkes etter hoteller med parkering, men det stemmer ikke. Her er det kun gateparkering, men det er sannsynligvis greit å få plass ganske nært (og gratis). For noen kan det være negativt at det ikke er TV på rommene. AC virket ikke, men det hadde vi heller ikke bruk for. Det er litt kronglete å få tak i noen om du har noe du vil spørre om.
