Room, location, facilities, staff, food. Very good.

Noting. That we stayed only a night. And that also we happened to arrive at around 9.45pm in the night. And we left around 8.30am, due to our tight schedule.

Very Helpfull Family there to help us. Highly Recommended for everyone who wants to stay near anuradhapura.

My room was overlooking a wetland area with marshy lake. You can have breakfast/ lunch by the lake and see amazing birds and wildlife (big monitor lizard was swimming around when I was there). The family are friendly and helpful, cook a wide range of tasty food to order and have a tuk tuk for transport. Communal dining tables so is possible to meet other guests or you can chill and do your own thing. The location is very close to the Abhayagiriya stupa and Samadhi Buddha statue. Great price for a large double room when I stayed there.

Attenzione cimici da letto!!!! Let's go by parts because there is so much to unravel 1) The hotel itself is wonderful, nice house owned by a local family. Surrounded by breathtaking views to rice fields and a cozy spot to eat and relax with a view to a pond. 2) The room: we got the one in the main building on the ground floor. Very spacious room, two kingsized beds (the bed covers are not big enough for the beds so just with s little movement you uncover the matress). Now where the trouble begins. The bathroom is all in one so when you take a shower you flood the whole bathroom (like many places in south east Asia) but being the floor poorly levelled and not having effective drainage the water stays there for the whole day almost (so if you take the shower when you arrive from a long day you'll have to get your feet wet everytime you enter the bathroom until the next day) The ceiling of the room is tile like (picture) and I guess not very well separated from the tin roof because you can hear all night animals running on it (and it is not quiet). 3) The owners: a big local family. They are very nice, very smiling but they do not understand a word of English it seems. (Not very convenient to run a hotel and also being that Sri Lanka has a very high percentage of English speakers due to their colonial past). Anyway it got to the point of frustration sometimes because you would ask for simple things they would answer with a "yes yes" and then do whatever they wanted. ( I understand we are in a foreign country and not everyone has had the chance of getting a higher education so it is unfair of me to expect the local people to speak English, even though in the tourism world is crucial).

Super sweet owners

This was a little paradise on its own. The family is so friendly and helpful. We got a room overlooking the green ricefields and had our breakfast and dinner in the garden, surrounded by the birds. The place is located in the part of Anuradhapura where all the ancient ruins are and a bit further away from the more modern part of the city. Perfect if you want to explore the ancient ruins. We cycled and scootered around and had a wonderful stay.
