Wooden Hut Koh Kood

Awesome place with a unique vibe. Good community. Very laid back. Like a really cool hostel, but you get your own room. Highly recommend!

Be aware that there might not be AC if you are someone sensitive to hot weather.

They went above and beyond, always helpful and friendly. Food is amazing. It’s hidden in an awesome cool jungle with lots of plants and forestry.

The pineapple / banana pancakes for breakfast were fantastic and the whole place had a very nice laid back atmosphere.

'Tele' and his family were very welcoming. They helped with water, moped and also went out of their way to get my luggage to another hotel! The room has all you need. Lovely flower garden/ jungle surrounding with some exotic noises at night. The mosquito net is so good around the bed, that the fan can't get through. I left the Mozzy net during the day, but at night, opened it enough so the fan could blow air in. It was too hot otherwise. I didn't notice a single flying insect in my room. A couple of lizards, cockroaches and a big spider but that's to be expected. They won't hurt you. Really enjoyed late evenings on the hammock outside watching the storms at night. Also, the wi fi was spot on. I managed to stream my beloved Arsenal at 2am and watch us sh*t the bed against PSG.

I really like the location - a short scooter ride from some of the island's best beaches. The garden is lovely and the huts are nicely done. I enjoyed reading in the hammock on the porch.

In hot weather, the fan only rooms here are simply unbearable. I don't generally have a problem sleeping in hot countries without A/C, but the room here was an absolute furnace. The heat at night made it difficult to get to sleep, and in the morning it woke me up earlier than I wanted too. I stayed in other fan-only rooms on this same trip to Koh Kood, and I never suffered from the heat like I did here. The garden sits below road level and doesn't get much breeze. On top of that, the mosquito nets are too thick so the fan air can't penetrate it. This issue is compounded by the extremely weak fan in the room. The max setting on the fan was pathetically weak. The fan is also awkwardly placed, making it even more ineffective. Thinner mosquito nets and more powerful fans, perhaps stand-alone ones, would make this a great place to stay. As it is, in hot weather, I cannot recommend taking a fan room here.
