Ukutula Resort

The location was absolutely breathtaking, and we had an endless supply of wood to braai with and keep the fireplace going. The farm manager and maid were exceptionally friendly and the chalet and grounds were well maintained. There is plenty of space to take walks and the pine forest is perfectly serene. The good definitely outweighs the bad. We'll be better prepared for next time!

This was probably our own shortcoming for not reading reviews thoroughly, but we did not expect for there to be no signal or electrical outlets. There was a USB port outlet to charge your phones with, but our chargers were C-Type. A learning moment for us. The road really is as bad as you'd think when you're warned about using a 4×4 vehicle to get there. It could do with a bit of maintenance. It's about 12km from Dullstroom, but it took us 40 minutes to make the drive on that road. We also might have caught them at a bad time, because it seemed like there was maintenance happening around the grounds, so the peace was sometimes interrupted with the sounds of chainsaws or a tractor.

The chalet is well equipped, neat and clean and has a beautiful view.

I was not prepared for how bad the road actually is. We were told that fire wood is available and that we don't need to bring any. The wood available, was wet and we really struggled to get a fire going with it. Really struggled with the hot water. Hot water keeps disappearing in the shower - not so much fun when it is cold outside :( Otherwise it is a great place (If you have a 4x4 vehicle)

It was a tough road to get to the resort, but once there it was a great stay. Peace and quiet.

The off grid way out of reach stay was just what was needed. Everything you need are provided to relax and connect with nature and revitalize your soul.

The gas shower was very tricky and even when we figured it out, the gas doesn't stay on so every now and then the warm water turns cold and you have to close the water and open again to start the geyser again. Still able to shower in warm water so not bad considering.

Quiet silence and absolute peaceful

Road was horrendous with the rain, irrespective of my car having more than the required ground clearance. We would like to visit again, but only once the road is fixed properly. Sustained unnecessary damage to my car (Mercedes ML350)

The resort is situated deep in the mountains making it beautiful and quiet. A bird watchers dream too.There are dams to picnic by and fish for bass and trails through a peaceful pine forest to help you relax. The accommodation was lovely and serviced daily. Beds were super comfy and they provided towels and some toiletries.

The road to the resort is definitely only recommended for larger SUV's and 4x4 vehicles only, as it is a rugged mountain road. That said my Renault Duster was able to navigate the road.
